Please redeem your gift cards to prevent national collapse of our xmas based economy!
Please, patriotic citizens of faith, get out there and shop quickly with your gift cards, the fact that there are so many millions of un-redeemed gift cards still floating out there after the birthday of Christ is throwing our entire Xmas based economy totally out of wack!

Please, in the name of all that's holy and patriotic, SPEND THOSE GIFT CARDS before year's end! Our very economy depends on it people!

Don't let the curse of gift cards topple our delicate, Judeo-Christian economy!

3. Sorry, but I missed the point of the sarcasm.
Upon the sale of the gift card, the big bad big box store gets its revenue. If the gift card is never redeemed, the retailer just gets that much more profit.

Is the OP suggesting under the veil of sarcasm that it's a good thing for Walmart to rake in money without having to let go of its merchandise?

2. Technically that wouldn't do anything
As the giftcard is already money in the bank for stores.

Yes, I know it's sarcasm...

5. Xmas receipts are too low the day after, gift cards are the culprits.
According to the cnn 'experts' on the economy.

It must look odd to the odd alien observer from orbit, to see how our whole monetary structure is based on a few special days that are observed with every spin around our tiny speck of light in the cosmos.

6. Retailers would like nothing better then to see gift cards NOT REDEEMED
...you see, the money to buy those cards was spent prior to Christmas and is now in escrow earning nice comfortable interest rates for those retailers.

7. Yet cnn's money experts lament this year's xmas profits.
And they said it's because the numbers aren't all crunched yet, making the math fuzzy.
