Dinner with the Maccaca Family - Only Inside the Beltway

At about the same time, it dawned on my partner and me who the loud, obnoxious dad at the next table - placed in the "pay attention to us" position in the main dining room - was.

If I'd had one more Montana Margarita in me, I swear I would've wished him a Happy Maccaca.

As it is, I suspect there'll be a Christmas future when that Disney family portrait will have to be cropped with a wider stance lens. Call it an educated hunch.

... stifle giggles, resist the urge to talk in stage whispers of matters like Abramoff's whereabouts this Christmas and whether the Feds have figured out if he's a true friend of Allen, etc.

If I'd seen a rug slip, I'd've spewed. As it is, my superego is exhausted keeping my iddishy tendencies in check - and avoiding eye contact was probably the saving grace.

... we went back there tonight, and no Maccacas in sight.

We like the eco-friendly philosophy, the food is amazingly good, and the bartenders are heavy-handed (in a good way).

That, plus my partner thinks the slightly wider, very sturdy http://www.aardvarkstraws.com/about.php">Aardvark paper straws are especially good for spit balls, and stocks up.
