4. I didnt think of that until I heard someone talking about him being
the Dem VP back then. On the Jon Elliott show thye were talking aobut that, and how they think old Joe has changed. Suddenly I realized how bad it really COULD BE!

7. 2008 and VP Cheney
but also if Agnew hadn't had his problems and Watergate never happened--Nixon was prepared to support John Connally for the GOP nomination in 1976 rather than his VP Spiro Agnew. In '68 there was a spirited three person race for the Democratic nomination between VP Humphrey, RFK and Gene McCarthy. In 1960 Eisenhower took no official stand in the race between Nixon and Nelson Rockefeller. In 1952 VP Alben Barkley made an abortive run for the nomination but when he didn't get a key labor endorsement he dropped out of the race. In 1960 JFK took on Lyndon Johnson as his running mate but according to several JFK biographies wasn't prepared to support him for the nomination for president to succeed him in 1968 (he favored his brother Bobby). In 1996 EX-VP Dan Quayle ran for president and unlike EX-VP Walter Mondale in 1984 was denied his parties nomination (it's debateable if Quayle would have been nominated in '96 even if George HW Bush had won in 1992.

9. Valid point
But, you must remember that if Gore had taken office, which he won by the way, he would have continued some of Clinton's economic policies and would have presided over a different political climate. Long story shot, Turncoat Joe would not be the man he is today.....Crossing fingers and glad we don't have to worry about that :)

10. I'm not at all glad we aren't worrying about that!
I'd rather Gore had won, and we were worrying about Lieberman! Instead, we have had
the nightmare of two Bush terms, and we are still worrying about Lieberman (just
not in the way we thought we would be).

11. Also Valid
DFW i did not mean i was glad Gore did not get to take office, but i was just elaborating on what Turncoat Joe would have done with the greater scope of power, aka the Vice Presidents Office. Does that clarify things for you?

15. There's also an excellent chance that 9/11 wouldn't have happened
Putting aside the MIHOP theories.

There were lots of warnings that a Gore administration would NOT have ignored.

without 9/11, a lot of this 'take over the world' mentality would not have happened.

so, the Joe Lieberman we know now, would not evolved.

12. If Al Gore had taken off the entire world would be vastly different
Who's to say what kind of man Leiberman would be now if there had been no war on Iraq?

13. Yes, thank God we don't have to worry about nominating somebody who voted to invade Iraq
and voted to declare the Iran's Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization and spends all their time sucking up to lobbyists and the GOP rather than the Democratic base...

Oh, yeah. Never mind.
