Heavy Anti-Bush/NWO Song, Travesty As Usual, By The Hidden Hand
The Hidden Hand {recently disbanded} was led by infamous underground metal legend "Wino" {Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan}, and was one of the most outspoken bands whose material was focused on raising awareness within indie metal circles. I met him a few times when Spirit Caravan toured ... they have some great anti-NWO tunes as well, esp two anti-neocon and Bush numbers, Dove Tongued Aggressor, and Rebellion.

Swallow these lies y'all keep swallowin'
Swat em like flies y'all keep followin'
Sheep to lead
Ethos of greed's grim, he's smirkin' see
Hateful screed for new century
Be enslaved
Shoes are too large, y'all ain't fillin' em
Cook up some wars y'all keep killin' em
Travesty as usual

He's your peace, he's your state of mind
Graven image to idolize
Based on cold ideology
Face of lies and hypocrisy...

1. Didn't know they had broken up.
I was just listening to their first one the other night. They did some cool stuff.

2. Yes, unfortunately HH is RIP
Their songs skewered Bush/Cheney, yet I doubt many normal, mainstream folks have even heard of them...for the obvious reasons. They used to sell lots of anti-Bush stuff at their gigs. I've been listening to one or the other of Wino's drug guzzling bands since the mid 80s. I still consider Spirit Caravan is high water mark - luckily I was able to see em a few times.

Old age, a family to tend to, and a host of typical band problems brought about the decision to disband the Hand. He will however be joining forces with holy-metal-mantra OM, comprised of Chris Hakius {drums}, and Al Cisneros {bass/vocals} of 1990s S.F.'s legendary stoner rock Sabbath devotees, Sleep, along with a member of Neurosis, for an upcoming project entitled The Shrine Builder ...based around the OM song, Rays of The Sun. So that should yield an LP and limited gigs.

3. Wow...I frikkin' love OM...just saw them last month here in Boston.
It actually got pretty rowdy, which you wouldn't expect with their music. But someone passed a joint up to the stage, OM kept playing even after the management wanted them to stop, the crowd was getting unruly with the management...it was a blast!

The new Electric Wizard CD is scratching my stoner-doom itch big time at the moment. Best thing they've done since Dopethrone, easily.

Thanks for the info on The Shrine Builder. I'll definitely be looking out for that.

4. Yeah totally groove on OM's spiritual vibe...
But I'm an old Sleep fan. They were scheduled to play here and then switched gears at the last minute...so hopefully next tour. Did get to see Sweden's Witchcraft around Thanksgiving! Awesome show w/local openers doing the fuzzy Blue Cheer thing. Also was fortunate to catch Electric Wizard w/Warhorse and Bongzilla back when they toured for Dopethrone. The new one is fun, but the vinyl copies disappeared overnight. Rise Above has more up now so hopefully ATH will get more soon since I missed out...

5. We were going to go see Witchcraft too, but the funds were too low.
The opening band when they played here was Baroness, and their CD isn't too bad. It's been growing on me with each listen. I didn't even recognize the local band they had opening first. Witchcraft is just super cool and we're pretty bummed we missed them.

The E-Wiz and Warhorse must have been sweet. Warhorse was very cool, but weren't around long enough.

Good luck on finding the vinyl. The last thing I got on vinyl was Sunn O)))- "Oracle" a couple of months back, and it's a nice listen. You know my musical tastes are weird when I use "nice listen" to describe Sunn O))). :)

The real surprise of that EW show was Bongzilla as the opener ... we didn't know they were set to play, and they floored the place w/their twin Green amp domination. Was Al using his Green bass cabs at the Boston OM show? Witchcraft was excellent - their frontman/guitarist is one of the few who actually has the pipes to really sing. Nothing lost live either. They played a lot of tunes from their s/t, and an old Pentagram cover too. Also, Jerry, guitarist of Warhorse, is playing with another band now that sounds similar to that, but not as good overall.

Ever hear Ocean Chief? ...also from Sweden. Very Sleepy/Electric wiz-ish...

7. Yup, Al used the Green bass cabs! The place was vibrating like an earthquake.
I really wish I had caught Witchcraft. Sounds like I missed a cool set.

Ever hear Ocean Chief?

I have now...thanks! :)
