MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) -- As part of a plea deal that would let him avoid being labeled a sex offender, a former Marine recruiter was convicted of a lesser false-imprisonment charge Monday stemming from allegations that he groped two females.

Donny Rage, 29, was accused of sexually assaulting the victims, one of whom was under 18. Rage pleaded no contest in November to a false-imprisonment charge associated with the underage girl, a plea that would have required Rage to register as a sex offender....

...According to a criminal complaint, Rage groped the underage female at a Manitowoc recruiting office and later tried to have sex with her after her boyfriend passed out at a party....

...The 18-year-old told police she was poked, grabbed and tickled before Rage carried her into his bedroom and assaulted her, the complaint said....

Sounds like a lot more than groping - but this is a Gannett story. Facts are always a little bit suspect with them.

Still, in the end the bastard not only avoids the sex-offender label but only gets probation for it all.
