1. tribal law

This is a complex issue but the bottom line is that it is a relationship between the Federal gov't and the tribes. State law has no impact on any tribal lands. This has both good and bad aspects to it.

5. I can't help but wonder, if I were a native American...

...with parents and grandparents who suffered under the aggressive and often violent, expansionist land grabbing of the early settlers, just how I would feel seeing America now on the verge of becoming a totalitarian state where untended suffering will surely become commonplace for much of the population -- angry, sad, happy, indifferent, or some mix of these? I wonder.
