Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 03:40 PM by rndmprsn
as we are on the eve of picking our next Democratic President, lets look back at our other (D) Presidents.

who is your pick and why?

me first: FDR, because he saved this country and founded the modern democratic party...the one thats supposed to care about working people.

4. Went with JFK, because I want to believe in what could have been.
You know, had someone decided he couldn't be allowed to remain in power.
Whoever that someone(s) really was.

7. I voted for FDR but then remembered evidence suggests he and Marshall
knew Pearl Harbor would be attacked. Unforgivable.

Have to go with JFK.

9. Always had a soft spot for Jimmy Carter
I hate the way neocon idiots deride him. He was, as he is, a principled, caring, honest man.

16. Had Reagan followed Jimmy Carter's energy policies we wouldn't be in the world of hurt now...
... that we are in with global warming!

We might even be not dependent on foreign fuel now or have gotten us into these many wars over there recently if we'd gone down the road that Carter asked the country to when he was president.

That said, I still voted for FDR here as his was the kind of leadership that really created the middle class of the last century and is the model for what we need in the coming years to avoid another Republican created depression!

12. We need another FDR.
Bush fucked us up big time. We need someone who will bring this country out of the hole. People may not like it at first, but they need to get the fuck over it. The first step is to shut down Fox News and tell Rupert Murdoch and Rush Limbaugh to go take a fucking hike.

14. FDR - he knew the rich so well
. . . he could beat them at their own game.

"Economic Royalists" and "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" - these aphorisms are timeless.

15. I wonder what drives the Truman supporters.
I don't think he's bad or anything, but I wonder why people think he's number 1.

17. because he stepped into office as the most.......
unprepared president of all time. (Thats was his words) He was kept out of the loop as most VP's were. Harry's tough determination to pull up his bootstraps against all odds and finish the war is what endeared people to him. When you actually think of his accomplishments from ending the war, to desegregating the military and taking on the Communist threat, he did pretty good. It was hard being the second fiddle to the only President, (FDR) that some people knew.
