Ok folks, this morning a conservative just switched me from being progressive!...

I knew I had to get to get an eye exam this morning before the end of the year so that I could buy some new glasses with my flex plan money that I hadn't spent yet this year. I had to go to the downtown Sharpe office instead of the North County one as I couldn't get an appointment in North County before the end of the year.

The woman who gave me my exam was a very nice and intelligent young lady who started off by saying that she thought I looked very familiar to her but couldn't place me. At the end of my appointment I asked her if she was politically active to see if she knew me from various activist meetings around town. She said something like "Yes and no. My politics are conservative". I didn't do any follow up on that note as I knew she likely didn't meet me in a meeting.

Anyway, why she switched me from being progressive. I had presbyopia and had progressive lenses on my glasses before, but it appears now she felt that I'm better off in effect getting "reading/using computer glasses" and not wearing them when not reading or working on my computer rather than using progressive lenses!

So there! A conservative switched me from "progressive" this morning!

But to alleviate some's fears here, I still am a strong progressive politics-wise! That hasn't changed!

Sorry, but I had to do this post this morning! :)

10. You're right... It certainly would have been easier not to wait until the last minute...
... to get my eye exam this year. That was pretty myopic of me! :)

5. I enjoyed your post. Well baited subject line.
For practical purposes - what are progressive lens - bi/tri-focals?

8. Yes, though they are "progressively" bi focal in stead of the sharp division of old...

9. Hah... I'm also more inflexible with age!...
That is what presbyopia is, as she explained it, when your lens isn't as flexible to expand the way it needs to focus on close objects.

And of course I'm more of an inflexible progressive with politics though, so I guess I'm consistently "inflexible" these days! :)

11. I'm surprised she didn't offer you rose-colored glasses
It's either that or blinders -- the optical tools needed to stay conservative.

12. She did talk about roseacea, which affects the tears, etc. in your eyes...

... which can also affect the tears in your eyes that also affects your vision... So perhaps I do suffer from roseacea affected vision! :)
