BAGHDAD (AFP) - The US military said on Thursday it had freed 100 detainees from Camp Cropper, the prison it operates near Baghdad airport, as a gesture of reconciliation during the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha. snip

The US military frees detainees only after they are deemed to no longer be a threat to the security of Iraq.

Around 4,000 detainees are held in Camp Cropper and another 21,000 in Camp Bucca near the southern port city of Basra.

Most are held without formal charges and often end up spending a year in detention.

1. if that number was anything except 100 I might believe they are doing whats right
but picking a number such as this has to be only means they are not doing whats right.
