3. Oh, colloidal silver
Yeah, some people in the alternative meds field think it's therapeutic. I think it's very dangerous but I don't think he should be discriminated against.

He really is blue. :wow:

13. I got the video to play on my Mac by switching from Firefox to Safari
It says that about 15 years ago, when he was a fair-skinned redhead, he started drinking a colloidal silver solution, extracting the silver via an electric current into water as a health elixir. He believes he caused the problem by rubbing some of the solution on his face to clear up a skin ailment. The medical explanation is argyria: "The normal human body contains about 1 milligram of silver, and the smallest amount of silver ingested reported to cause argyria ranges from 4-5 grams to 20-40 grams. The silver is deposited on the face and diffused all over the skin, and as the individual is under the sun the silver darkens as a result of being oxidized by strong sunlight, thus producing the silver/blue/gray complexion." My explanation: He's almost totally nuts.

14. "The most recent case of argyria is Stan Jones, Montana's Libertarian candidate for Senate.
He started taking colloidal silver in 1999 for fear that there would be shortage of antibiotics due to Y2K disruptions. People ask him two questions: if his blue-gray skin is permanent and if is he dead. His usual response is that he is practicing for Halloween."

19. Blue tan
Fascinating as Mr Spock would say. From that web site:

The condition occurs as a result of cumulative exposure to silver nitrates, which over time percolate into the dermis. Initially tinting it a pallid bluebell, continued treatment tarnishes the skin first to slate, then puce, then finally a dull confederate grey.

After ingestion, silver salts are deposited in the skin and oxidized by sunlight, via the same process that develops photographs.

any more of it if he likes the color he is currently. And I think he needs a few piercings.

28. I have a friend who dragged me to a sales-lecture on colloidal silver. She bought the package...
...but seems to have come to no harm, probably because it was expensive and she couldn't afford to buy too much of the stuff.

That guy looks like a Smurf for sure, which is scary in an actual person.
