After listening to many of the wise people here, I understand that it is risky for the Democrats to oppose war funding, but it seems to me based on hearsay and anecdotal evidence that the military hates being in Iraq and wants to come home.

So: For obvious reasons, they can't express their ambivalence or admit that they feel the war is a sick and violent farce, but we know that many of them do feel this way and want to get out at any cost. When they return to the U.S., and receive the help they need, then maybe they will offer vindication for our immediate withdrawal by saying, "Yes, the war was a lie and I'm grateful to be home."

This would also seal Bush's fate as a great president.

What about this: We oppose the war at any cost, even at risk of our leaders getting "beat up" over the non-funding issue, but when our young men and women actually come back they would support these actions by the Democrats and in some way redeem what might be perceived as radical actions by some of the right wing.

I'm so sick of this war, and I know most of this country is sick of it. For that reason, it's hard to understand why any Democrat would fear just letting the chips fall where they may and opposing it. Lord knows I have sent so many emails to them telling them just to fight for what is right, and that if they try but fail, that's okay.

But they are not even trying.

EDIT: I apologize for all these posts, but I'm just getting so upset about the way things are lately.
