I believe this fire today shows that bushco is going down
desperate people do desperate things and my friends this is desperation of the highest order

Also my bet would be on all the docs recently ruled to be produced will be victims of this fire, enough to make the rest worthless as evidence.

Let's see if they somehow manage to squelch the investigation.

14. I think we may have found our patriot here..
A federal judge has ordered a hearing on whether the Bush administration violated a court order by destroying CIA interrogation videos of suspected terrorists.

U.S. District Judge Henry H. Kennedy rejected calls from the Justice Department to stay out of the matter. He ordered lawyers to appear before him Friday morning.

In June 2005, Kennedy ordered the administration to safeguard “all evidence and information regarding the torture, mistreatment, and abuse of detainees now at the United States Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay.”

15. You are so very right.
We are hearing things in the media today that we would have never heard 6 years ago. But there's still a lot not being reported. As Americans continue to turn away from Bush/Cheney, and as their suspicions grow that things aren't right, the media will have to continue a trend of reporting the "bad news" in order to keep viewers. Without viewers, they have nothing.

So...it will be interesting to see exactly what story finally tosses the cart over. If people suspect that fires are being intentionally set to destroy evidence that would be bad for the Bush Administration, that might be the final straw.

MSM/corporate is supporting values and ideals of a democratic people's government --

Americans have been "taken advantage" of due to the absence of a free press over the last decades ---
a "free press" in the hands of corporate monopolies.

It is the internet which has preserved seven years of truth-telling which is now occasionally being told on MSM.

Understanding the MSM lies of the past should make you more able to understand the lies/reality of the present.

Let's hope MSM does continue its "loosening" --- however, don't depend upon it.
Keep yourself informed via the internet.

77. With JFK and Watergate . . . I think we were still presuming that someone would
investigate --- JFK got scarey as we realized this wasn't going to happen ---
but "never" wasn't in my mind. Many very talented private people/investigators
were working on it.

How we sat thru two more political assassinations --- RFK and MLK --- without
going into the streets I still don't understand at this point.

Even at the Watergate line, as the impeachment progressed and the info was understood,
who could have imagined that the whole thing would be stopped with a pardon ---
and we seem to all have sat still for that, as well???

So -- don't presume that something is going to get fixed down the line or tomorrow ---
the investigating has to happen NOW ---

IMPEACHMENT NOW --

21. Your confidence
is inspiring. I would hug you now if I knew you :) so here .

I hope you are right with every ounce of my soul but I just can't go there anymore. Too many times have we said that and nothing, absolutely nothing ever came of it. We will get press pieces that say things about the poor administration lost their paperwork and have to do it all over again, sigh. The vast amount of the public will sigh along with them at our poor, overworked administration. Don't they have enough to do? Gosh, running two wars and trying to get the bad guys all over the planet, not to mention your neighborhood, is tough for even the best among us.

Sorry, I am inspired by your surety but not confident at all. This will become a massive Poor Bushies story and we will go on and most of the investigations will be stopped because of burned documents. Still, if you are right I will be thrilled and give you massive thumbs up for seeing it first.

Every single time I've heard that "they're going down" something else has come along that was bigger, badder and more outrageous.

They just up the ante each time, that's all.

We're overdue for a major terrorist attack. That's when they'll go all in.

I don't think Cheney ever feels desperate, more
arrogant in his power and mocking of our country than desperate
about being "caught."

I don't think for a MINUTE that the fire was any less
than a clear, "Don't even think about fucking with me"

39. With all due resect,
it's highly unlikely they're going down. After hearing this about everything from Jeff Gannon, to outing Valerie Plame, to Downing Street Memo's, to Bush admitting he planned to attack Iraq in March regardless of the UN, to pardoning Scooter, to the Gonzales Justice Department scandal, to starting an illegal war, wiretapping the nation, to the frighteningly incompetent way he and his staff dealt with the Israel/Palestine conflict in the summer of 2006 (waiting for a 'real' peace), to many, many other items any of which individually would have brought down a president in the past, you can forgive me for being skeptical.

Don't forget the Democrats' curious inclinations on covering his backside. No, the POS and his mafia will ride into the sunset, rich beyond all measure, untouchable by law. They will spread their venomous views into a new generation that will wait for another day, when the nation is again sleepy with apathy.

51. Oh, I don't advocate giving up.
I just don't think that we will achieve the victory we are looking for, of our wildest dreams. Which strangely, in light of what the directives of the Constitution are, are not that wild. To me, that sort of victory would include consequences for everyone who deserves them. That includes any dems who co-conspired. Of course, it would include Bush, Cheney, Rice, Addington, Libby, Rove etc. on a chain gang under the heat of the unforgiving Mississippi sun. Like something out of 'Cool Hand Luke'. Or at least the Hague.;)

I think people are just content to wait it out, thinking once they are out of office our troubles with these sorts will end. We must do at least that, get them out of office. But they're not going away. Like cicadas, their cycle will come again, unless extinguished now.

a nation of laws not of men. There's just no two ways about it, so my bet is on the Constitution and us, all of us.

72. You know it wouldn't surprise me
if this idiotic, demented administration-Cheney- didn't try to say that the documents requested were in that office. Given the fact that this is a "symbolic" office and there are just nice furnishings there for photo-ops and never visited by the vp, if it weren't so tragic I would just laugh myself to tears.

You know that this evil son of a bitch keeps all of this stuff so he can get his jollies while bunkered down in his spider hole.

What an evil bastard. The devil is afraid to cross him

This last word is for all you mfers intercepting this post. Since this word is on your "list" I know it will take up some of your valueable time.

81. How, oh how, do we get the attention of the 80%?
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 08:34 AM by timeforarevolution
To me, this isn't only about pulling the curtain back to expose Bushco's many crimes. We need accountability and justice to ensure that IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN, BY ANY ADMINISTRATION.

So many of the posters are understandably skeptical about Bushco paying for their crimes; do you have hope that it won't happen again in the future if something isn't done to hold them accountable, or do you indeed have hope that, once they're gone, the slate is essentially clean and we can get back to rebuilding America? If the system isn't broken wide open and exposed for the way it upholds criminality, I don't have a lot of hope that even democratic administrations will eventually fall into similar actions. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and Cheney has arranged it so the executive branch nearly has absolute power.

In this age of the Internet, when people become famous (granted, for perhaps 15 minutes) with viral videos, why can't something solid and concrete take hold to get their attention? Is it because there's TOO much criminality and deception to wrap one's brain around with this administration?

How do we help the American people feel empowered - or enraged - enough to sit up and take notice and DO something? Again, it's not only about holding Bushco accountable - it's about taking back our democratic PROCESS so such monumental deceptions and constitutional offenses never happen again.

Is there a Bushco for Dummies video out there that leads the viewer through the facts - undeniable facts - in an entertaining way, set to music? That's how we get the attention of young children. Maybe a Schoolhouse Rocks version of Bushco's attacks on our Constitution.

I'm editing to acknowledge that the American public is more enthralled with Britney and Paris and the like rather than politics - or perhaps it's that this is what media is feeding us. Maybe a viral video spoofing and incorporating this would get attention.

87. IMO
the people in the various bureaucracies have figured out that Bush-Cheney are taking them for a ride. That's why the intelligence agencies forced Cheney to release the NIE.

Of course there are Bush-Cheney cronies at the top of the various bureaucracies but we've seen examples like Wolfowitz at the World Bank and Bolton at the UN where in the end the mid-level managers and lower level staff make it pretty clear that they can't work with these guys.

I don't predict any major reckoning for the Bushcons but I can foresee less and less people following their orders until the administration simply grinds to a halt and there's nowhere for them to go but out.

But it seems nothing can take down these evil fuckers. I'm convinced the two could eat a live baby on television and the news networks would refer to it as "supporting the children".
