THERE are some show business people in Hollywood who support Rudy Giuliani for president - but they're on the down-low out of fear it could hurt their careers. LA publicist Michael Levine, a political independent, has come out publicly in support of Giuliani, joining Dennis Miller, Jon Voight and Melissa Gilbert. But many others are keeping support secret. "Hollywood is a very liberal town and supporting a Republican, even one with liberal social views, is considered risky business," said Levine.

Poll Distraction

SOME Clintonistas are blaming Hillary's recent downward drift in the polls on her pollster, Mark Penn, because he came out with a book this fall, "Microtrends: The Small Forces Behind Tomorrow's Big Changes." "The usual case is, a campaign strategist is broke, he finishes a successful campaign, then he writes a book and goes out on tour. With Mark Penn, it's the reverse," said one Democrat. "He's worth millions. He does a book and tours in the middle of the campaign." Clinton campaign manager Howard Wolfson told Page Six: "I've never seen anyone work harder on any campaign than Mark has on this one. He is absolutely tireless."
