Dear DUers - please help keep "Money Trumps Peace" in the foreground.
I wrote a column about it, here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3121968&mesg_id=3121968

Thank you in advance, and hugs!

Thanks also for the hearts from last week!

12. It's well worth it.
I can't believe more of a stink isn't being made about it. I really can't. But then again, they slept straight through the "wish I was a dictator" comment, too.

4. You read my mind...
...It's part of the "Know your BFEE" installation I wanted to do for Ms. Sheehan and w8liftinglady and others affected by Bush's criminality. I just need a couple of hours peace after the kids go to bed tonight.

Your column, calimary, is first rate. Reading it and how you connect the "money trumps peace" to the "as long as I'm dictator" and then to chimpeachment makes a real trifecta.

5. When I heard * say that I yelled at the tv and almost threw
something at it. Cindy wrote a good piece on it too, you can see it here: http://www.michaelmoore.com/mustread/index.php

10. I saw that, myself. SUCH a great piece. And sad. And true.
If you google "money trumps peace," you get several commentaries on it. We're not the only ones who shrieked at our TVs and radios when we heard it. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anybody in the mainstream media make much - if anything - out of it (except for Randi Rhodes).

You'd think some of 'em would be going apoplectic. You'd think some of our Democratic Senators and Congresspeople would be going apoplectic. Sometimes I swear it doesn't seem as though they notice even when it smacks 'em upside the head.

14. And Randi Rhodes isn't "mainstream media."
If it weren't for you all, I wouldn't know who she is. As it is, I've never even heard her show. There's nothing but right-wing garbage on my local radio staions, I can't afford satellite radio just now and I can't stream it at work.

So much for local radio, eh?

17. I know - isn't it just so galling???
That's another reason why, if you get the chance, use one of the handy TOLL FREE Capitol Hill switchboard numbers (you'll find some of 'em in my sig line down at the bottom here, for your convenience) and call Massachusetts Congressman Ed Markey's office and spur him on in his efforts. He's WUNNNNNNDERFUL. Always has been. One of his pet issues for a LONG time has been telecommunications. Now, I believe he's back in place as chair of the House Telecommunications Committee (or subcommittee), and he's working on net neutrality - AND, to a lesser extent, reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine. We HAVE TO have that. HAVE TO. It's the only way to force corporate broadcasting to give time to more than one side. As usual with big corporations, money trumps everything else, too. And they will ONLY do the correct and proper thing by their listeners (who actually own those airwaves, by the way) if they're forced by law to do so.

You can thank ronald reagan for that, too. The repeal of the Fairness Doctrine was one of the things he signed toward the end of his crooked-as-all-Hell second term. And if you think back, some schmuck named limbaugh was on the air all over the place, UNCONTESTED and UNRESTRAINED, with NO balance or opposing view allowed at ANY time, and others soon followed. NOBODY got any other side of the story FOR YEARS. That, alone, did more to further the agenda of the CONservatives than anything else. I, for one, would LOVE to see those three hours of lies and dreck and shit and hate counter-balanced by three hours of TRUTH - every day, everywhere he's on. And same for all the limbaugh wannabes who've spawned like so many more opportunistic infections.

11. Perhaps when we call our reps, we ought to remind them of this.
For ANYBODY who still feels as though they have to keep on accommodating. :grr:

Were they even paying attention that day?????

13. Do they have it on Crooks & Liars? Or maybe Youtube?
I would think that any video of the whole news conference would contain that choice little tidbit. Maybe CNN or something? Or how 'bout our faves at Pox Noise?

9. That's what it's ALL about wars for profits - That's the ONLY reason BushCo wants
Edited on Mon Feb-19-07 10:16 PM by GreenTea
to go into Iran...MONEY.... create escalation & turmoil, but just keep the war for profits going...No matter what BushCo or anyone else says, with all their bullshit rhetoric, just like in Iraq the lies will never stop coming, it's ALL about money!

They've already stolen over 400 billion dollars of our tax dollars with their illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq...The money sure hasn't gone to the soldiers....the corporations are stealing us blind. Along with the hundreds of billion in weapons, contractors, corporations are stealing everyday...

The only reason to invade & bomb oil rich Iran are the same reasons, to force congress to keep that money flowing...100 billion more of our tax dollars waiting in congress to be stolen and eaten up by these corporate pigs.

It's all about the money...keep the wars going...don't believe any of the other bullshit smokescreens, like nuclear weapons or supplying of weapons as the reasons it's the same old bullshit...Don't fall for it again.

And I haven't even gotten into all the unmetered oil money bring stolen, or the war for profit keeping a phony economy propped up .... and it ables the dictator Bush able to break laws because he's a "war time president"...

21. Those who have always advised - "follow the money" - didn't know
the half of it with this nest of vermin!

For bush, especially, "greed" and "God" are pretty much the same thing. They start and end the same way, so no wonder he gets 'em mixed up.
