Just in case you weren't able to track what happened in the Senate today; here's the final "score":

1. why would you WANT to fill up his voicemail?
just fucks up his office, makes more work for them.

You wanna thank him? Send an email.

4. MonkeyFunk, I swear, you'd fuck up a wet dream.
See Reid's comments in the thread I linked - he mentions having received 1000s of calls - the phone calls work. If it ain't broke; don't fix it.

Send an email; make a call. Say "thank you" is the point.

6. Then call Reid!
Call anybody who is in the way. Call Republicans! Call the Dems who voted for cloture of the non-immunity bill!

I'm all for thanking Dodd - I just don't think filling up his voicemail is a worthy goal. Send a fax, send an email.

12. If you could expend half the energy you exert towards
chastising people on this board to create positive venues (Eg. provide numbers for Reid or the Repukes), people might be much more effective in their pursuits. Just a thought.

13. A little too subtle for you to grasp, there, hey monkey? Let me spell it out for you.
The goal is to say "thank you." Maybe add "yes, we were watching and we appreciate you working on our behalf."

Knowing there are quite a few people on DU who might want to say "thank you" and that there are only so many messages a voice mail can hold, the voice mail not yet being full is an indicator that there are still plenty of people who haven't yet said "thank you."

The next time you post an OP then whine that people turn your post into something you didn't intend, go off topic, or don't get your point, please, look back on this thread for an example of irony.

14. and I agree with you
that Dodd should be thanked. Heavily!

I disagree only on the tactic of filling up his voicemail box - it makes it harder for his office. Constituents or others with real business will not be able to get through.

I'm not in any way dissuading anyone from thanking Dodd! I will send him a snail mail letter doing so. I'm not shitting on your attempt to thank him - I think it's great! I'm just questioning whether making it harder on his office staff to do their jobs is the best way to do it.

17. Email can be just as time consuming.
Either way, the point is to bombard him with thanks. I can't see that as a bad thing whether email or phone, fax or snail mail.

We've ragged on the Democrats long and hard. It wouldn't kill us to show appreciation in the same overwhelming manner. I'd be surprised if that turned into "hard work" for his staffers; regardless of the medium used. Again, the voice mail being full or not is only an indicator that there may be more people who want to say "thanks".

Do you really think his staff would complain about a mail box full of "thank yous"? I don't. Would they have extra work? I hope so. Some extra work is always welcome when it's caused by appreciation. I used to refer to it as happily, satisfied, exhaustion. No better feeling in the world. You can sleep like a baby. :D

19. and I want him thanked as heavily as possible
yes, email takes work, too, but it doesn't prevent a constituent from calling about an important, but unrelated matter. That's all I'm saying.

9. Thank you. As did I. I also made a point to let him know I'm across the country
but that I am aware of what happened today. I'd like our elected leaders to understand that we are watching.
