Has anyone figured out if Silvestre Reyes is tied or NOT tied to Jose Rodriguez?
Remember that there was a blog last week that claimed they had common business interests in TX and then, that blog entry was corrected and scrubbed?

Does anyone know? Silvestre Reyes is the Congressman heading up the investigation on the CIA tape destruction. I'm trying to figure out if he's dirty or not.

1. I just found this update:
http://harpers.org/archive/2007/12/hbc-90001879

Where is Jose Rodriguez?
DEPARTMENT Washington Babylon
BY Ken Silverstein
PUBLISHED December 8, 2007
CORRECTION, DECEMBER 9, 2007

This story, which originally appeared under the title “Where is Jose Rodriguez? Apparently in business with the brother of top Democrat on Intel Panel,” describes Jose Rodriguez Jr., the former head of the CIA’s clandestine service who has been identified as making the decision to destroy videotapes showing the interrogation of two Al Qaeda members, as doing business with a brother of Congressman Silvestre Reyes, the Democratic chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

A Reyes staffer has told me that the story “is absolute fiction” and that Rodriguez has never had any discussions about doing business with any member of Reyes’s family. “There’s absolutely no truth to” the story, the staffer said. He said Reyes’s planned a “rigorous inquiry” into the destruction of the videotapes and that, “We are going to follow the facts wherever they may lead.”

I have retraced my steps in reporting the story and it’s clear that what I wrote was wrong. The responsibility is mine alone. I regret the error and apologize for it. That section of the story has been eliminated from this version of the post.

2. That's what I read, Sis. So, do we take that as a correction or
as an "official denial" which boils down to a confirmation?

3. Don't ask me hard questions!
 This one is from yesterday: doesn't sound like Reyes is playing ball with this admin or backing down, so I'd (like to) believe it's a correction.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=4006089&page=1

House Intelligence Committee chairman Silvestre Reyes told ABC News today that he will ignore the Bush administration's request to drop its investigation of why CIA interrogation tapes were destroyed.

"This is an administration that frankly does not have a good track record of policing itself," Reyes said. "We intend to go forward and issue subpoenas next week because we are a whole equal branch of government."

7. After what I've seen this past year, I don't trust hardly any of them,
sadly.

8. Reyes is said to have ties to Rodriguez and Hoekstra pitched WMD.

This isn't going to be a real investigation.

We need to ring up our networks, we need to sound off to the people in Congress we know we can trust because this will be bullshit.

(I can tell how long Bush has been in office by how foul my mouth is. :( )

9. Well...
He IS a moron. This is the guy who didn't know the difference between Sunni and Shi'a before taking chairmanship.

So one wonders what his usefulness might be.

4. Business ties questionable, but what about the personal relationship, I wonder.
Those details were in the original story also. I clipped and saved those in this post:

Oddly, now the cached version of the original story has been scrubbed as well. Hmmmmm.

I'd like to know more about this curious little story too, sfexpat2000.

6. I'm concerned that both the chair and the ranking member of this
"investigation" are dirty or complicit.
