John Edwards has one ingredient I find lacking in the others:
Passion.

I saw him today on the shows and this is what struck me. A second ingredient is his genuine empathy for the plight of lower and middle class Americans who increasingly find the deck stacked against them by the corporatists and the have-mores. He is absolutley spot on when he says we need someone like a new Teddy Roosevelt.

I am so liking him more and more. Please, Iowa and New Hampshire, allow me the chance to vote for him, too.

6. Kucinich & Gravel are also passionate.
I find Kucinich's passion more to my liking than Gravel. He gets his message out better. But I do agree that our candidate should be impassioned, because there is A LOT riding on this election......The continuation of our democracy.

22. He's a man aflame, to be sure. I caught the campaign event yesterday in
Cedar Falls, IA. Elizabeth was there as well. The two of them together light up the place. You find yourself rooting for these people, no matter what. Someone more familiar than I with New Age jargon could explain it better, but it has something to do with good spirit lifting all concerned.

25. lucky you!
it feels like he will be president. he is as close to a front runner "speaking truth to power" as we got. that's the spirit.

and I don't know why progressives wouldn't be demanding more meaningful messages from the candidates. Edwards and Kucinich do it. "Barrackstar"(dubbed by Jello B.) oozes platitudes and says nothing -- Hillary represents the continuing 3 decades long march of Reaganism (www.Thomhartmann.com)

Why isn't this campaign about the crimes of this administration? Oh, that's right -- the senators started campaigning early to avoid doing their sworn duty in Congress.

20. What an excellent way to frame his message!
He does speak for the WAGE EARNER - who comprise the vast majority of the country and on whose over-burdened shoulders the entire American economy rests -

WAGE EARNERS! NOT the Corporations and not the people whose income comes almost entirely from 1099 Div. Interest Statements.

14. You are right
I watched him today also, and I agree, his passion is clear, and that has been one of the reasons I have supported him, that and his willingness to take on the corruption in D.C. and make the needed changes that this country needs.

I think that anyone who saw him today liked what he had to say, and many of those who are undecided will give him a real look over, and if they do I am sure they will put him on the top of their list for the nominee! The more they hear him, the more they love him and his message! :applause:

Not being able to show passion has been a constant criticism

32. My hope is that if John Edwards wins the nomination the supporters
of the other candidates will help him win the general. He will be going up against the status quo with billions in smear capital, plenty of free air time by the right-wing media machine that will lie like you have never seen before because they will know the gig is up if Edwards is our President.

He's on to them, he knows their m.o. I like him because they won't be able to unite their base against him the way they can with HRC. I also think he will be welcome to our allies and will be a fair player on the international scene.

I will vote for him in our CT primary in Feb. Just hope he is still a candidate...

I'm planning to go up this weekend, and again on the weekend before the primary. I've been in touch with Edwards headquarters in New Hampshire and the person who coordinates the carpooling for Connecticut supporters. I can put you in touch with her if you'd like. She helped me find a ride in no time.

We would mostly be doing canvassing. :hi:

and some people actually believed that George Bush was a "compassionate conservative." I suppose if the clock were turned back eight years and I suggested that Bush was full of shit and anything but a compassionate conservative, it would be taken by some as a "scurrilous unfounded attack." All that glitters ain't gold.

The most blatant one being he wanted to be called Senator but he never wanted the responsibilities that went along with BEING a Senator. He only wanted the moniker to help him campaign for President.
