Poll question: Have you ever talked to your Congressional representatives, and if so how long ago was it?
Edited on Mon Feb-19-07 02:29 PM by originalpckelly
They aren't going to impeach "President" Bush or President Cheney, and that's because they don't represent us.

They are in it for themselves. I think that's an important part of government, because to some degree it produces stability and it frustrates the will of the people. However, what we have here is not something that happened over night. The corruption and disinterest about what we the people think is not new in our government. These people just don't give a damn, they'll do pretty much anything to get re-elected.

We are not being represented in Congress, yet we are still be taxed.

If you think I'm full of it, just think about the question in the poll:
"Have you ever talked to your Congressional representatives, and if so how long ago was it?"

The answer to that is usually never, and if yes, it's a long time ago.

Part of this is inherit in the fact that they are tasked with representing so many people. Part of it is their own personal ambition, and corruption. Part of it is that we don't give a damn about our country's operation. (We being average Americans.)

How is it possible for one person, who's never met you in your whole life to really represent your interests in Congress?

I dare say it's impossible.

And that's the reason justice will not be done.

Now back to that opening question once again:
Have you ever talked to your Congressional representatives, and if so how long ago was it?

*The survey may be skewed on this site, as it has a lot of activists on it.

2. I'll be seeing mine in about two weeks.
He'll be at our Second Saturday breakfast. And quite a few of us are planning on confronting him about various issues.

My Rep is Dennis Moore D-Kansas 3rd District.

3. Speak for yourself. My Congressional reps ALL represent me
and they do it damned well. OK, there are only 3 of them. And Ok, it's Vermont which means it's Pat, Bernie and Peter. And yes I've met and spoken to all of them, multiple times. In Vermont that's just not hard to do.

4. Yeah, you live in one of the cheater states.
Lucky!

The rest of us have to make do with ratios of about 600,000 to 1.

5. Hey, don't go calling us a cheater state!
We're 600,000 to 1 too. It's just that it's the same ratio for our Senators as for our rep.

And it ain't just luck.

9. Don Young only talks to people who agree with him.
He wouldn't even debate his opponent in the election last year. He is the biggest slime in the House of Representatives, bar none.

10. David Price (D) NC is regularly seen around town--particularly
during holidays. I last personally spoke to him at a Christmas party
04 when I was talking up Dean for DNC party chair. Price's choice?
Martin Frost of TX!

Price is supposed to be one of the good guys, but he doesn't go out on a limb and is clearly more in the Clinton mold. I know others who have personally been beating him up about Iraq for years--and he still doesn't get it--witness the anti-war protesters that were arrested for trespassing in his Chapel Hill office last Friday because they wanted to talk with him on the phone about withholding funding for Iraq!

12. Talked with Ben Chandler (D-Ky) ten days ago.
Both my wife and I asked his help to end the war. He's a good guy, sometimes too conservative for me, but he is on our side as far as the war is concerned. BTW, he has made it onto the appropriations committee.
