What's Sadder Than Republicans Trying To Be Funny?
LOL, this FR thread is a classic....Freeps try to analyze why the FauxNews Daily Show rip-off isn't funny. Although some insist IT IS FUNNY BECAUSE IT'S THE 'TRUTH', LOL.) Some Freepers insist there is NO LAUGH TRACK and they KNOW this to be true because they SAW A LIVE AUDIENCE!

A couple come up with their own ideas for hilarious skits like this one:

"I'll tell you what would be FUnnie. A leftwing couple are in their home watching all the coverage of the Anna Nicole Smith death. You know they are liberal because their walls are covered with all sorts of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) posters. They watch the news reports for about a minute. Then one turns to the other and says, 'Bush's fault!'"

More hilarity ensues here:

17. Bush is the King of physical comedy
In his case, just showing his face in public and falling off a segway or bike is enough to send them rolling in the aisles.

I mean...I always knew he'd worked for Nixon. But I was really crushed when I found out he was one of those people who really believes that W is some sort of political genius.

6. This response is awesome
Conservatives seem to be able to raise A LOT of money for elections, etc. Why not get together and raise the money to start up a network devoted to the conservative side of things? Many FReepers could be comedy writers and do much more than what this show was attempting to do. And conservatives could then boycott the other networks as they don't want to report the other side of things to begin with. Just seems that it is time for conservatives to fight back againt the entertainment industry and DNC propaganda known as the media. FoxNews, though it actually gives the other side of things, is not a conservative network.

8. Ar Ar Neo-con Humor...
This show was truly HORRRRIble. Here's the thing about the Daily Show, there really is a core of truth to what they're doing. When they show a clip of Rep Ginny Brown-Waite on the House floor quoting Larry the Cable Guy's "Get er Done" line as a strategy for Iraq - they don't have to make that shit up.

Virgil Goode and "They want to replace 'In God We Trust' with 'In Muhammad we Trust'" was real. George Allen having a Macaca-Moment was real.

But Ed Begley's Hybrid vehicle ran out of it's charge while only going three-miles, can be refilled using human waste and can't climb a 5% grade? That's just plain bullshit.

But it still could be funny to the neo-con cabal since that's the kind of bullshit they want to believe. Just like "there is no global warming", "there are too WMD 's in Iraq - somewhere", "Saddam was the real mastermind of 9/11", and the ACLU hasn't defended Rush Limbaugh, Oliver North or Jerry Falwell as well as Nazi's right to demonstrate in Skokie.

This show is useful if only as a window into which paranoid delusions the right is embracing this week...

Calling Obama "BO" and alluding to Hillary being allied with "Angry Lesbians" - is actually very telling.

Of course, Beltway Boys and Hannity accomplish pretty much the same thing - without the laugh track.

Edited on Mon Feb-19-07 02:43 PM by K8-EEE
He's just such a nice, down to earth guy and really walks the walk...why his interest in alternative energy turns him into some kind of fool or villain is beyond me - not funny, wish everybody would be as aware of their own personal habits and how they affect the world around them.

11. Let's apply the Republican formula for humor from a reverse perspective for a moment...
"George Buxh is a universally despised president loathed by most adults. Even their children are aware of this unpopularity"
...no, that just lacks pizazz.

Let's try again, using accepted comedy format that runs against the conservative sense of humor....

Three kids were fishing along the banks of the Potomac river when they saw a man struggling as he was swept downstream toward the boys position.

The three boys immediately jumped into the water and pulled the hapless man ashore only to discover the man they rescued was George W Buxh.

After regaining his composure, the president thanked the boys and told them that he would "grant them anything they wanted in return".

The 1st boy said he wanted a pair of Air Jordans...GW said that "not only will he get the shoes, but he would have Michael autograph them for him".

The 2nd boy wanted to go to Disneyland...Gw went one step further and said he would "fly the lad down there on Air Force One".

The 3rd boy said he wanted a wheelchair...the pres informed him that "not only can he get him a wheelchair, but he would have Chip Foos overhaul it with everything from spinner wheels to candy apple paint".

Noticing that nothing appeared wrong with the boy's legs, the president asked "why would you want a wheelchair?"

"because when my old man finds out I rescued you, he's gonna kick my ass".

That's better

22. r-w humor
I think the problem with r-w "humor" is that they always go for the easy laugh; the lowest common denominator of what's funny. That's why so much of their stuff comes off as juvenile. Example: the Obama magazine called "BO." Too easy.

How many of them mentioned "bring in Dennis Miller!" ? Dennis Miller had his own r-w comedy show and it was a failure.

I can remember trying to watch some of his shows and they were actually painful. He was not funny. He was pathetic. The show was his own personal psychological meltdown. Are Freeper memories really that short?

You know what? Those are some seriously effed-up semi-humans. Don't make me go there again.

27. Oh my. I think there must be a genetic component to conservatives' lack of
comprehension of humor. Check out some of their suggestion of what would be "funny":

"I gotta split but one idea I have for "Media Circus" would be about one of the hosts. A yuppie type who insists on wearing an annoying bowtie. The cable news execs tell him to ditch the bowtie because the viewers don't like it but the yuppie type stands his ground so they come up with a compromise. The yuppie host is allowed to keep his bowtie but the one he is forced to wear is oversized and spins like a propellor whenever he gets excited on the air."

and then there's this little nugget of hilarity:

"O.....M.....G!!! It just Struck me, if Barak Obama were elected president, and he messed up spectacularly, the headlines around the world would read "AMERICA'S BO STINKS".

and this:

"
Or you could have a scene which shows someone typing at her word-processor. You would just see the hands and never her face as the female journalist scribbles her article. Her voice would be slurred and you would occasionally see the hands pick up a bottle of Jamesons. On the wall would be pictures of Dubya, Michael Douglas, and Catherine Zeta-Jones with darts sticking out of their photos. Hillary Clinton would have a halo around her picture. A New York Times logo would be in there somewhere. The woman would get crazier and crazier as the scene progresses as she would slam Dubya (and men in general), take a swig from the bottle, and flick more darts at the pictures. You know whom I'm talking about.

Oh and don't forget the tired old cliche of slipping on a banana peel:

"Funnier would be Hillary eating the banana, starting to throw the peel on the floor, then a quick evil-eye take toward the camera, then she hands the banana peel to one of her Secret Service agents. The SS agent throws the banana on the floor and immediately walks toward it and slips/falls to the floor.

Then show Hillary's reaction, which would be . . . ? ? ?"

Not exactly original thinkers are they?
