After spending millions to discredit him, Mellon Scaife thinks Clinton was "a pretty good president
in many ways."

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/02/19/america/web.0219clinton.php

Scaife, reclusive heir to the Mellon banking fortune, spent more than $2 million investigating and publicizing accusations about the supposed involvement of Clinton and former President Bill Clinton in corrupt land deals, sexual affairs, drug running and murder.

But now, as Clinton is running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Scaife's checkbook is staying in his pocket.

Christopher Ruddy, who once worked full-time for Scaife investigating the Clintons and now runs a conservative online publication he co-owns with Scaife, said, "Both of us have had a rethinking."

"Clinton wasn't such a bad president," Ruddy said. "In fact, he was a pretty good president in a lot of ways, and Dick feels that way today."

1. So can we have all that time back from 1994 -2000?
Since he paid a quarter million dollars to that "trailer trash" from Arkansas to
claim she was hurt by the sex she had w/ Clinton 8 years after the fact and her
law suit (paid for by Scaife) put Clinton under oath to be asked about a blow
job and then Ken Starr got to get his nut off w/ his "investigation."

18. Sinking ship
Bush's Presidency is sinking so fast it's hard to see how he'll make it until his successor is sworn in.

8. I wonder why they would say this...
...publicly, then?

Maybe they're distancing themselves from Junior.

I'm usually not the tinfoil hat type, but I think Mellon knows that a seeming embrace from his people could poison Hillary's chances -- make the real tinfoil hat types think that she's made an "agreement" with the right wing.

21. They're all doing this- all the usual right-wing voices are singing Hillary's praises.
If they could choose the Democratic Party's nominee, they'd choose Hillary Clinton.

24. Well, maybe...
The point of my post above is that perhaps they're trying to sabotage her campaign be giving the appearance that she's the darling of the right wing -- which is political poison in a partisan primary.

how he has spent the last 8 years actively rehabbing Poppy Bush's legacy with the American people.

Nice way for a Dem to use his popularity, eh? Secrecy and privilege MUST be protected. Clinton proved to the fascists that he will keep their secrets.

If the RW is backing off the Clintons it is because Poppy Bush needs them to.

6. With the train wreck...
Edited on Mon Feb-19-07 01:18 PM by TwoSparkles
...that is our current pResident---it's not to difficult for
anyone to look back and understand that Clinton was a decent
pResident.

Clinton's crimes were about victimizing himself. He never tore
apart this nation and destroyed our reputation around the world.
Clinton didn't bankrupt our nation, destroy the planet and murder
hundreds of thousands of innocents. He didn't eviscerate our
Constitution, strip away our civil rights and treat the American
people with utter contempt.

Clinton screwed one intern. Junior is screwing the entire universe.

7. Perhaps the Saddest Part of Bush's Tenure
Is that it makes Clinton's embrace of all things right-wing look moderate and competent by comparison.

So sad.

Richard Mellon Scaife can kiss my ass!

I don't think I believe him when he says his checkbook will stay in his pocket. He'll just be more discreet about it. Rat Bastard.

Edited on Mon Feb-19-07 11:03 PM by Marr
For some, it's because she'd be an easy target. For others, it's because she represents the corporate wing of the party and her nomination would mean that Wall Street could not lose.

22. possibly - or possibly trying to stay 'hidden' as was the case
for quite some time i the 90s? So much more visibility in the era of blogs and the web... perhaps this is legit - but call me skeptical for all the damage they wraught - just wonder if they are trying harder to be less visible.
