WASHINGTON - If Hillary Rodham Clinton wins the presidency, some top Democrats would like to see her husband, former President Bill Clinton, appointed to serve out Hillary’s unexpired Senate term.

“As a senator, he’d be a knockout,” said Harold Ickes, who was once a top White House aide to Bill Clinton and now gives behind-the-scenes advice to Hillary. “He knows issues, he loves public policy and he’s a good politician.”

Some Democrats and political analysts say Bill Clinton would thrive in the world’s greatest deliberative body, much like Lyndon Johnson did before he became president.

“President Clinton would excel in the Senate,” said Paul Begala, who helped Bill Clinton get elected and served in the White House as a top aide.

“Why not?” Begala added. “He excelled as attorney general and governor of Arkansas, he excelled as president and he’s been a model of the modern Senate spouse.”

Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, agreed.

“Clinton is a natural for the Senate,” Sabato said. “He loves to talk and schmooze. He could be a great vote-organizer. Majority Leader Clinton?”

1. But would he do it?
He seems to be content with public speaking events and fundraisers. Being a senator takes up a lot of time and plus would he really want to work with people that impeached him?

4. The Senate didn't impeach him. They acquitted him of all charges at his trial.

2. I can't see him being 1 of the 100.
Can the Gov appoint himself and then have Clinton be Gov?

3. I was thinking if he would want to come back in some type of official capasity,
He would make a wonderful "*Bridge Builder of Trust & Cooperation with the Rest of the World."

*Building back all the bridges with other countries and World Leaders that B*sh and the Republic Administration have burned and destroyed.

As he left office, I saw a poll or something similar: He was was one of the most well known and well liked leaders in the world. It would be good to have him restoring good faith with other nations.

5. A Waste Of His Time & Abilities
There are plenty of Democrats in New York that Spitzer can name and easily nominate. But first, Hillary needs to win a nomination and a general election...and we're a long way from either happening. If Hillary doesn't denounce her IWR, her "annointment" will have some very, very rocky times ahead...especially if she keeps pissing off the Netroots.

If I'm voting for Hillary Clinton, that's who I want doing the job, not her husband. If Bill wants to play envoy on special missions, that's where he can help the best. Send him abroad to help fix our messed up relations.

Plus I see Bill being bored in the Senate...where the rules and the protocol work against a "freshman". Should Hillary give up her seat, Mark Green would be an ideal candidate.
