1. Thanks. I'll give my Congresswoman a call on Monday and ask about this.
I see she's not on the list yet.

Oh, yeah.... that's right... he dropped poverty.

Oh well, that's OK... people like me need to get in the back of the bus anyway.

she gets all defensive. Its almost like she's glad there aren't enough votes to support it. She'd rather talk about why she's supporting Hillary.

three more representatives cosponsored the impeachment resolution:

17. Yeah, but...
He had his fingers and legs crossed, his lucky penny wasn't in his right front pocket and he had all 15 remaining hairs parted to the right.

So nyah, nyah, nyah... I don't got to show you no stinkin' articles of impeachment.

And until Ms. Nancy says otherwise, they'll languish in the bottom drawer of the file cabinet -- right next to the identical copy of HR 333 that Kucinich submitted back in April and which have sat untouched ever since.

And no, Conyers isn't going to do a damn thing this time around either. Too much other business, don'tcha know, and we just don't have the numbers and they might talk bad about us on Fux Nudes...

Another democratic profile in courage.

23. Do you honestly believe
this third-hand report that Conyers was waiting for 25 co-sponsors?

Why would that be a threshold? Has ANY legitimate source ever confirmed that?

It doesn't make any sense on its face. It's as ridiculous as the notion that Nancy Pelosi needs 10,000 letters.

It's just nonsensical.

28. He did say. I posted the tape-recording of it. But Conyers later claimed people were misinterpreting
the statement. He has no intention of starting impeachment if there are 25 co-sponsors.

32. I was taking the OP at face value, but ...
I can't find anything via Google about the magic 25 co-sponsor plateau. It may refer back to this older event:

In July this year in San Diego, Conyers did say he would bring HR 333 to the full Judiciary committee if the then-14 co-sponsor total reached 17. The incident was reported by proud2Blib and is the OP in this thread.

See another article on the same event and (false) promise http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/?q=node/24962">here.

Of course, despite his blustering -- reports say he entered the hall in San Diego yelling "What are we waiting for? Let's take these two guys out!" -- he apparently had no intention of bringing articles of impeachment against Cheney up for consideration by the full Judiciary committee -- then or now.

So when he said "Let's take these two guys out," I can only guess that he was referring to a couple of hired sluts from a gay escort service. Or something like that.

Which means -- and I know you won't believe this -- I actually AGREE with you this time. It IS ridiculous to think that Conyers is going to do anything about HR 333/799, no matter how many co-sponsors sign on.

It's also ridiculous to think that 10,000 hand-written letters to Ms. Nancy begging her to do her job are going to make any difference either, except to the planetary tree population, pulp mills and paper suppliers.

So yes, the whole thing IS nonsensical. Which means that, I believe for the first time in recorded history, I'm in complete agreement with MonkeyFunk. And yet the earth remains in its orbit and the moon hasn't crashed into Southeast Asia -- yet.

Well, as they say (paraphrasing), give a million monkeys a million typewriters and one will write "Hamlet." And give one MonkeyFunk more than a thousand posts and one of them has to make sense.

16. After many months, Dennis has only managed to get...
23 out of 535 Representitives signed on. If this were a bill introduced by Tom DeLay, Cheney would be enjoying his vacation in Leavenworth right now.

I had hoped this time around, that Dennis would have actually done something. He has not. But, he does talk a lot about it.

18. DK has done everything he could, given the hideously corrupt house "leadership"...
Yes, if Delay had introduced this bill, Cheney would be doing 700 consecutive life terms by now. However, Delay was a house leader who actually knew how to lead, twist arms and get his agenda accomplished, despite the fact that he's a sick bastard of the first magnitude.

This time, there are people like Pelosi and Hoyer acting as the anti-Delay, making sure that no matter what DK does he's not ever going to get his articles debated in committee, much less approved and brought to the full house for a vote.

And yes, DK does talk a lot, and just about every damn thing he says is right on target. He's been calling out Ms. Nancy and the rest for the fools and cowards they are, not just for blocking impeachment but for caving again and again on Iraq funding -- as they're about to do again.

He had to use a parliamentary move to even get HR 333 heard and entered into the record. Hoyer of course tried to block that move but failed -- mostly because the GOP thought it was all a big joke and, knowing how inept and useless the house "leadership" is, decided to just have some fun with it.

So it's biz as usual for Ms. Nancy and Steny, and for the house GOPers as well. Just a big fucking joke while Rome burns and the noose tightens and we can't get rid of these swine legally because Ms. Nancy apparently cut a deal back in 2006 to keep impeachment off the table in return for BushCo not blowing up the world -- or maybe for not posting those revealing pix of her and a lobbyist for the war profiteering machine all over the web.

Who knows? No matter the reasons, this sorry actually congress makes me nostalgic for the 109th. At least with republicans, you know you're dealing with a pack of soulless, money grubbing rat bastards with the morals of a child molester. Turns out you can say the same about the new democratic majority, except that they're sneakier about it. They wring their hands in moral anguish, then screw you when you're not looking.

21. It is actually 435 House Representatives and 100 Senators, but to impeach
...the house needs a simple majority or 218 votes to recommend that sufficient evidence exists that impeachable offenses have been committed by the Vice President thus triggering a trial in the Senate where again only 51 votes are required to remove VP Cheney from office
