I think I have figured out the reason why when running as a republican

for political office, the tougher things get during the campaign, the lower you must stoop into depravity.
It's because they're trying to appeal to a potential source for votes that has a collective intellect that is very limited.
They choose to appeal to more basic instincts and inferiorities like intolerance, racism, religious bigotry and so on. When you are competing in a race for political office you align yourself with views that you are most familiar, and are most comfortable with.
The republican party has reduced it's most distinguished members to political refugees.
A once proud and savvy opposition to imperialism, a repressive controlling government, with a close eye on fiscal restraint, has now
been whittled down to slogans and sing-a-longs. I'm a life long progressive liberal that is why I feel sympathy for our once formidable foe. I think it was a natural and an inevitable occurrence because the conservative ideology was built on such a narrow foundation. To grow and cultivate conservative ideas, massive amounts of manure is required. To get to harvest time it takes honest work, a total foreign concept to most of them, that is why they take an easy alternative, STOOPING INTO DEPRAVITY after all when you are a race to the bottom you have gravity in your favor.

Lets not take shortcuts in our discourse here on DU buy trashing any of our candidates. There isn't one of them I would not favor over any of their's. If we focus on the positives that our favorite candidates being to the table, we feast from a bounty of great ideas.
If we dip our toes into the cesspool of Karl Rove style tactics this whole process will smell of sewage.

If you read this please consider. The whole country is unsure of our future, think, speak, and reflect good things of all progressive candidates. We have to much at stake to be diluting our common message and ideals.

Over and out.
