Didn't see any protesters saw "Golden Compass" LOVED IT

The 700 seat Cinema Center Theater(the largest in town now that the Indians Hills was demolished) had very few people in it for the 5 o'clock matinee. I don't know if it was the bad publicity from the christian jihads or the after effects of the Wednesday shooting. Strange there were no preview trailers. I loved the film from the first moments. By far the best film I've seen this year. I hope the film does well, or the next two books won't be filmed.

Anybody else seen it? What did you think?

Just got home from the movie...LOVED it.
no jihadis at my theater either, but not crowded at all for an 8 p.m. show. We are in Michigan though and the economy is depressed. the theaters have been almost vacant for months.

1. Haven't seen it yet... I'm waiting until I go home for xmas to see it with my younger sister
I recently read the book though... it's WONDERFUL! One of the best I've read in a while (Lyra is officially in my top 10 list of BEST FICTIONAL CHARACTERS EVER!).

Imagining world peace this holiday season because I've eaten enough "whirled peas" --

5. Wait...Indian Hills is gone?
Eh, I knew that...but it always catches me off guard when I remember. Like Peony Park.

7. Goggle Indian Hills Theater

I was the Chairman of the small local group that fought so hard for two months to save it. I still have a couple pristine autographed shirts around here somewhere we used for raising funds. There is a documentary on DVD available with the full story. It has played around the country at film festivals.

8. Thank you for your work!
Indian Hills was a big part of my adolescence. I was sorry when it was gone.

9. In my youth I fought to save the Omaha too

So did one of the other Ih Preservation society members. The Omaha was a landmark and so much more than the Orpheum.

6. Saw it.
No protests in NYC.

I liked it okay. Didn't love it. But, I did think that there were elements of it that were great.
