DU's Blocking Bonanza
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 01:15 AM by Bleachers7
The new blocking feature is about as exciting as the launch of the "new" Coke. I understand that the admins (for some reason) want to publicly ridicule DUers that don't fall in line. Well, I have a solution that is being used by a forum approximately the same size as DU. Our friends over at Something Awful have something called a "Lepers Colony." It's a public board where the names of the miscreants, their offenses, and their punishments are posted publicly. The banning come down at the moderators discretion. No questions asked. I think this is the best compromise. It allows for the public ridicule the admins want while truly punishing violators, and there's no question of tampering.

3. someone blocked me and I have no idea why
I am not a stalker so Ignore would suffice if they did not like my style - I think blocking STINKS and is what cowards resort to

10. Blocking is for cowards, period
Anyone who "needs" the ability to literally not allow people to disagree with them has no business being on the internet at all. They should leave forum debates to people who can handle them without peeing themselves and crying to a Moderator that some big meanie disagreed with them.

We already have rules here. They are good rules, and they are sufficient IMHO. Allowing this "blocking" thing is an issue to be decided by the DU admins, and I will not argue with that decision, but to me anyone that feels the need to use it would do better to stay in the shallow end of the pool.
