Would Iran aquiring nukes create a balance of power?
Edited on Fri Dec-07-07 04:15 AM by Smith_3
For all those who repeatedly claim that the world will come to an end if Iran aquires nukes I ask the following: Could it not be that Iran aquiring nukes would create a balance of power in the Middle East ,which will then lead to more diplomacy?

I have wondered if that would actually be the case. People normally tend to take a "its good that we have nukes and they don't" stance. Could it be that considering what happened in Iraq, Iran has good reasons to want to have the same technologies that the United States have access to?

I don't have an answer to these questions myself, I just ask you for your opinion.

1. No, it would create an arms race.
Is there a balance of power between India and Pakistan?
No, in a nuclear exchange, India might lose a few cities, but Pakistan would be wiped out.

3. No.
Because Israel would bomb the fuck out of Iran if they thought Iran were anywhere close to an actual deployable weapon. Iran ain't getting nukes.

4. I'd rather not find out.
The sure way for a balance of power is for all nations to drop their nuke programs.
