Beware the Cragslist Auto Classifieds.
I have been looking, in my general neck of the woods, for a used car. I have, of course, been looking at Craigslist. Word of advice: if a Craigslist or any other online classified poster does not put a telephone number with the ad, blow it off. The listings, at least in my neck of the woods, are stiff with Auto Escrow Scammers, a vile breed of bottom feeder who should have a barbed spike rammed up their assholes and their guts pulled out with a Monster Truck.

2.  I saw alot of escrow dealers here on craigs list
They are buried in there selling off used cars and trucks . It's turning into a big business deal like ebay has . Ebay used to be just for private sellers now it's packed with power sellers and ebay stores .

Something that begins small and useable for public use always seems to turn into big business . They neve used to charge if your item did not sell either , boy that ended rather quick .

6. I believe that it is...
when you are buying something expensive on the internet and, to make the transaction safe, your payment is held by an escrow company and not released to the seller until you receive the item and are satisfied. The scam is when the seller sets up a fake escrow company, you deposit your money into it, and they disappear with your money.

9. I didn't put *my* phone number in my ad when I put my boat on Craig's List
you never know what kind of spiders or crawlers run through there collecting phone numbers and/or email addresses. Craig's List gives you a choice to use an anonymous email addy that they link to the addy you provide at signup. I don't want a bunch of freaks getting my number and running up my cell bill...

10. We just put a car ad on Craigslist with our phone number
I'd only sell to someone from my area who showed up with cash.
