SUBMISSION THREAD for DU FurryFriends 2007 Holiday Photos
Edited on Wed Dec-05-07 02:44 PM by 48percenter
I am going to leave this up until Saturday, December 16th. Please submit your pet photos, to be included in a .ppt presentation (complete with music). Since I've never done this before (but I have hosted our Photography group contests) I am going to limit the presentation to the first 100 photos that I receive. (I have no idea how long this is going to take to put together and what kind of response I will get). I will take 50 pix on this thread, since not everyone has a donor star, and 50 on the Pets Group submission thread. Hopefully I will have the presentation complete and on YouTube by 12/21.

We have lost many pets this past year, and we have adopted many new furry friends as well. POST AWAY! Show us your kidz! (Also feel free to honor your pets that have passed by posting their photos. :grouphug: )

If you have any questions about how to submit a photo, please skip over to the photo group, one of the kind souls there will help you. It's easiest to use PhotoBucket, Flickr, Picasa/Google.

Look forward to seeing everybody's babies!! :loveya:

Happy Holidays - 48percenter

PS. Please keep this kicked so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle, thanks!

52. Punkie and Sugar were/are not afraid of our Shih Tzu Jax
because they think he's just a weird-looking cat, but big black dogs are a different story entirely. Your Cooper looks very sweet, so maybe he and Punkie have gotten together in the great beyond and have realized that they're not so different after all. I'm sorry for your loss. We're still missing Punkie's little meow in the morning.

80. Not exactly a small litter...
The Momma gifted me with 8 kittens in all, shortly after she found my back yard. Sadly, one of the little ones didn't make it. But, the good news is that I found good indoor homes for every one of them. They are all healthy, happy, and spayed/neutered.

No more surprises will be forthcoming from Mom either. ;)

Here are the two renegades who refused to pose with their siblings:

32. aww, sorry for the loss
i love the little thing, had it since it was the size of my hand...
i had two bunnies when i was very little, but i remember them being mean and anti-social... so i never thought id enjoy having a bunny...
until this rabbit came into my life.... lol
shes so sweet and gentle... she licks me and follows me around... and is even potty trained(doesnt go to the bathroom outside the cage or inside the cage.... we hav an area marked off with newspaper that she hops to when shes gotta go)..

i had no clue they were such smart animals.

i can only hope my bunny (we named it Bunny Bunnerton (cause its tons of fun)lol) will live as long as yours did!
i had heard they could live 8-10 years on average!

She's a rescue about 1 1/2 years old now. She loves frisbees, running, and is built like a shit brick house! She's all muscles and is a total sweetie. We almost lost her due to parvo after we'd only had her for three days. She's a little survivor though. We're so proud. :)

109. I've got too many photos of them.
I lost Bart last December 21st. I am still just barely getting over it. These two are the love of my life. I've spent every minute with them. We went on a real estate journey together. But yes, he was a cutie. Every being has something special. And it's captivating and painful to see the story come to an end.

I really can't expect anyone to care. But I keep finding more photos. Sorry, in advance. :)

168. Two huge cuties.
They almost look the same. One has a stripe. Bart had a huge tail. Farns has a whispy little tail. Bart would trot up to me with the most satisfied look. I called him Trotsky.

It's painful to love. I've never loved anything like I loved Bart. Almost a year later, and I am still feeling pain. It's partly because I haven't worked. I spent all of my time with them. We went on walks. I really miss the walks. I move onto my new property this next week. So Farnsworth will be able to join me again.

Life is a story. We're all stories. Now I know this. Every person is like a special play. A beginning and an end.

I just find it overwhelming. It's all so important. Yet it's temporary. OK, that's more than you bargained for. I'll go back to my dreaming and scheming. :)

89. Thank you!
He has the sweetest disposition in the world, loves kids especially. With adults he always likes to check their pockets. From his dog show career, he assumes that most adults have treats in their pockets. That picture was taken at a dog show, and he was all spiffied up. He really loved going to shows, and got his championship and even a second in the herding group once!
He's good sized for a bouv. He's a little chunky now, but not too bad, and weighs in at around 125. His nickname is Alliebubba.

Labs are wonderful dogs. Very sweet, but too high energy for lazy old me.

104. Boovies are GREAT for rolling on the lawn with and rough-housing.
They all seem to think they're lap-dogs, too. When they're in show condition, it can cause bruising - to ME. The ones I've known have been HARD as rocks. Briards, too. The only thing that bothered me was their drinking-water-soaked whiskers when I was "dressed up" ... but it's a small price to pay for playful puppies. The hard-headed goof-balls of puppy-dom.

171. Bear and I are enjoying living in Colorado.
I live 20 minutes from two HUGE dog parks--one is 60 acres and the other is 80 acres. Bear and I go to one of the other almost every day to hike. (Well, I hike & Bear chases squirrels.) I've lost over 30 pounds with this regiment! That's a quality of life that wasn't possible in Mississippi, both because there were no dog parks there, and also, it's just too dang hot and muggy to go on long walks 8 months out of the year!

I haven't been able to find a paying job yet, though. :( I've been volunteering for a former professor of mine since I got back in July, but paying jobs are alluding me. I also withdrew from the ministry. I think I just like swearing too *%#@* much! LOL

Southern Missouri is beautiful! And now your license plates match your local. ;) My mother was thinking about moving there when she retired, but she chose to move to The-Middle-of-Nowhere, Michigan, instead. I guess she's happy there, but I think it was a poor choice given the length and severity of the winters where she lives!

She kept the wig on that day for 45 minutes. If we leave clothes out she climbs in and sticks her head through the collar. She has a Supercat cape we made for her that she can put on and off herself too.

132. Two of my sweeties who left me this past year for a better place...
Leggs, a semi-feral who showed up for dinner every night for three years. He didn't want me to touch him much, but that last night, he crawled over to lay by me. He must have liked me after all.

And here's my buddy, Bob. The neighborhood kids told me that his owners left him behind when they moved. He sat in the far corner of my back yard for three days, before he decided to give me a chance. He turned out to be FELK+ He was with us for about four years. He became very ill last August. When he no longer wanted his nightly lap time and brush, I knew it was time to let him go.
You would think that with the other eight cast-off kitties I've adopted, I wouldn't miss Bob...but I do.

Also, we want photos of your NEW pets as well, not just the ones who crossed the bridge!!

And yes, this thread confirms what BHJ said earlier upthread, PETS DO make us better people. :grouphug:

whom I lost this past May and still miss terribly. He was the "Nestle Pet of the Month" with this photo (and the help of his friends on DU :-) ) last November. He was an 8 lb. Brussels Griffon, who loved boating, and was the light of my life.;(

She might be the prettiest cat I have ever seen with those gorgeous blue eyes and the creamy colored fur.

183. Presenting Phaedra Fluffernutter!
Yes, she's wearing barrettes so she can see!

But here's the joke...she's from a HAIRLESS breed (25% are born with fur and are referred to as "Powderpuffs"). I tell she's the Rarest of the Rare but she doesn't care...she gives me the Doggy Stare of Death until a treat flies magically through the air and into her mouth. She's a first class Meat Whore!

Here she is in the Doggy Condo ("downstairs" under the bed.)
