Halliburton Charged with Selling Nuclear Technologies to Iran in 2005

http://www.projectcensored.org/censored_2007/index.htm#2

Cheney company Halliburton allege that, as recently as January of 2005, Halliburton sold key components for a nuclear reactor to an Iranian oil development company.

According to a BBC report, Halliburton, which took thirty to forty million dollars from its Iranian operations in 2003, “was winding down its work due to a poor business environment.”

However, Halliburton has a long history of doing business in Iran, starting as early as 1995, while Vice President Cheney was chief executive of the company.

“I think we’d be better off if we, in fact, backed off those sanctions (on Iran), didn’t try to impose secondary boycotts on companies . . . trying to do business over there . . . and instead started to rebuild those relationships,” Cheney said during a 1998 business trip to Sydney, Australia, according to Australia’s Illawarra Mercury newspaper.

I recommended this OP because it's central to precisely how our "foreign policy" is operated, by whom and WHY,...all of which violate our Constitution and laws.

Talk about "single issues"..... this person sounds like someone that would give up on their favorite team for losing one game, or give up on their own kid for making one failing grade in school... "jeez kid, you failed, you must be too stupid to learn!"...

13. I did already look this up
long ago. Halliburton's dealings with Iran aren't "news".

Jason didn't "lose one game".
Journalistic integrity is a bit more important than that.
He categorically stated something to be true that was patently false, and then *stubbornly stuck to his story after it was shown to be false.
If he was set up (very possible) than his "anonymous sources" weren't "sources" and he should have gone public with them.

Everybody gets things wrong. That's not the issue.

but assume away about what I would do with my kid... :eyes:

Yep, it looks like it was you who said it..

He categorically stated something to be true that was patently false, and then *stubbornly stuck to his story after it was shown to be false.

Do *you* have something to prove that it was "patently false"? You admit it's possible that he set up and fed disinformation, so why such a hard line against him? Is it not possible that Rove cut a last minute deal, avoiding subpoena?

If he was set up (very possible) than his "anonymous sources" weren't "sources" and he should have gone public with them.

If Jason had gone public and named these sources, what are the chances that any legitimate source would ever confide in him again? Think of it kind of like an escort revealing his/her client names. No one would use that service again for fear of being revealed.

It's time to let go and move on over ONE REPORT that Jason Leopold got wrong.

19. yes.. I said I tend to no longer read Leopold stuff
If I named him as a source in a debate, the other person would have very legitimate reason to question the veracity of any information from him.

How is that inconsistent with my saying I've already looked into connections between Halliburton and Iran?
As I said, this connection is old news... and Jason doesn't have a lock on it.

As for what I need to prove or not prove about what Leopold said... in case anybody has forgotten, he said that Rove HAD, very definitely, been indicted and it would be announced the next day.
In fact, no such indictment was *ever handed down.
That's a matter of record.

When no indictment was issued, Leopold simply reiterated that this is what his anonymous sources told him, he was right, and don't believe your lying eyes.
It was akin to what's happening with Bush and the latest NIE.

Whether releasing or not releasing the whole story hurt his credibility more is debatable... but for me and those in my circle it definitely hurt him more *not releasing that information.

15. Well, there's still a "sealed indictment" from Fitz, and we don't know whose name is on it.
However, given the revelations from Scottie "the Duck" McClellan last week, Rove remains the most likely candidate. Jason Leopold might have been right after all. Also kinda funny how Rove "resigned" from the Bush Crime Family shortly before Scottie's info leaked.

I wish ALL "whistle-blowers" (including the potential ones, like Valerie) could be given FULL PROTECTION AGAINST RETALIATION. However, those who would suffer the most consequences are the ones in charge of "whistle-blower" protection.

I'm not sure how to overcome that situation but I am sure there is a way,...but, that way would require courage. (On edit: there's not much courage, these days,...not like the sacrifice I witnessed not so long ago).

Cheney recently warned European businesses to "quit Iran now." You know so Halliburton could snap up all those contracts they vacated.

23. Can you say, T-R-E-A-S-0-N? I know you can!!! DICK IS GUILTY OF TREASSSSSOOONNNN!
Snip from link above:

It was Cheney who directed Halliburton toward aggressive business dealings with Iran—in violation of U.S. law—in the mid-1990s, which continued through 2005 and is the reason Iran has the capability to enrich weapons-grade uranium.
It was Halliburton’s secret sale of centrifuges to Iran that helped get the uranium enrichment program off the ground, according to a three-year investigation that includes interviews conducted with more than a dozen current and former Halliburton employees.

If the U.S. ends up engaged in a war with Iran in the future, Cheney and Halliburton will bear the brunt of the blame.
But this shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone who has been following Halliburton’s business activities over the past decade. The company has a long, documented history of violating U.S. sanctions and conducting business with so-called rogue nations.

(end snip)

Let us add another form of treason: misappropriating the United States Military for personal or political benefit rather than what it is suppose to serve e.g. defense of our sovereignty. THAT IS TREASON!

28. The Congress cannot comprehend TREASON as a crime the government commits against We The People.
They only understand TREASON as crime we the people commit against the government. That is why Ronald Reagan got away his Constitutionally defined act of treason in the "WAR" on drugs. That violated the US Constitution in two ways. It was a Presidentially declared war. It was also Treason. The war on Drugs is a paramilitary civil war which is also the dictators war of choice. Most of our Problems now began with Reagan. If they would have hanged Reagan for treason. Bush and Cheney wouldn't even think about trying some of the stuff they have done.

30. Perhaps, they should be forced to suffer through some basic history and civics lessons.
The WHOLE POINT of writing the Constitution was to PREVENT RULE BY THE FEW, protecting the common person from oppression.

This administration is guilty of committing treason against the United States of America. I'm sure there are far more than just TWO prepared to testify to their guilt.
