Weird experience and frightening
I was listening to a Malloy archive last night from april 6 2006 , it was the day Harry Taylor spoke our to bush , remember Harry ?

While the instrumental music plays between the breaks I would mute the computer speakers . Toward the end of the show I unmuted for the last time and was listening to Malloy talking again about never ending wars and the design to brainwash the people as well as limit them with biased news which is the case ,we all know it is .

Now here is the shocking part , Mike was reading from the book 1984 and I only caught on when Kathy began reading part of the book .

This is how close we are to such facism that it is difficult to tell the difference , sort of like Orsen Wells radio broadcast of the war of the worlds only that caused actual panic .

6. seeing that we already have "free speech zones"
thought crime is just around the bend. This will be sped up if/when the internet falls into government/corporate control. Places like DU will be the first on the chopping block.

11. "Free Speech Zones"
Yeah, that's the stuff of nightmares right there. I remember being flabbergasted when I first read about that.

Then there's those absurd backdrops that * uses for his speechifications. I find that chilling . . . all the more when I consider that almost no one understands what it all means.

Himmler would be so proud of Rove/Cheney/Wolfie/Rummy. They've taken a coke/alcohol-addled nobody and made him the biggest fascist figurehead of all time. No Kristelnacht or Night of the Long Knives needed. Not yet, anyway...

3. Orwell was off by a few years . . . but not many.
He nailed it. We have become a huge fascist state, with a compliant, ignorant populace.

The neocons will look you in the eye, and tell you that war is peace....

9. Orwell was writing about 1948, the year he wrote the book.
1984 was about universal truths, that are always present. The party manual, the book-within-a-book is good for any time.

13. Thanks.
Someone else mentioned that.

I read it in 1973, at fourteen . . . not knowing that fact.

My teacher did make it clear, though, that these are indeed universal truths, about the dark side of human nature, that the neocons and sheeple now personify. The book (and Animal Farm, too) certainly stuck with me...

5. for a good visual, rewatch the movie again (1984)
The bleakness and hopelessness of those who compose the brainwashed masses only changes when they get upset at the daily yelling at Goldstein's image on the telescreen. It reminds me of the crazed fanatical freepers, racists, and homophobes.

I just hope that we wake up as a collective people before we get to that point, if we still can. Either that, or I hope that I can get out in time. I don't want to wear dirty grey and drink the victory gin with my non-meat substitute.

7.  I read your post about where to go
Personally i don't hold much hope the masses will wake up in time . We already have another drift toward 1984 with cut back FDA labs and the new improved cloned meat unlabled horror that this is . So there is your step to un- meat , meat .

I suggested in an email to Malloy for the jan 27th rally in DC people leave the creativity at home and show up in uniform much like 1984 each with a red brick to leave behind as a symble to rebuild this country .

Mike read it on the air on the 22nd of jan .

All I could see is we are so close to realizing 1984 why not bring this out into clear view .
