Ya know, I think Rudy the Pill is doomed...
For the simple reason that voters (especially Republican voters) will tolerate a lot of sleaze and hypocricy in their candidates...but the one thing that they'll never stand for is someone who inevitably comes off as a total jerk.

Even morans like Bush II, Dole, Bush I and Reagan could do the nice-guy routine. But even people who like Giuliani know what an asshole he is, both in public and in private.

He's been ahead simply because of his tough image, and GOP'ers have been trying desperately to ignore Rudy's unpleasant personality in favor of his projected air of machismo. But now, with the mistress/taxpayer thing impossible to avoid, it's pretty clear that Rudy's days are numbered, and a hand-shaking, back-slapping, good ol' boy like Huckabee is destined to win the nomination.

Mark my words.

5. I like seeing "Rudy" and "Doomed" in the same sentence.
It just feels right.

7. Resigning From Ghouliani & Partners? Hmmmm...
I just heard this blurb on a news brief...so the heat's starting to creep on the teflon don. He won't disclose his client records, so others have come forward with it...his buddy Kerik is up to his indictments in messes that have Rudy's name all over it, the Shag Fund is unraveling and his YouTube debate performance was horendous. Other than that, so, Rudy, how goes the war???

The irony here is the corporate media still loves Rudy...Faux is his exclusive channel. As long as they "say" he's relevent, he's relevent. This is virtually the reverse rules that apply for Bill Clinton. While Rudy can shag and fraud, Clinton dares to look at another female or gets a big advance on a book deal and Tweety's off his meds and the rails. "The Village" has their narrative and damn if Rudy's gonna go and ruin it for them.

11. He Figures He's Got The Media In His Pocket
Right now, Ghouliani the opportunist only sees the GOOP nomination and has veered so far right he's off the map. Let those scandals ooze out of the New York papers (especially the Times) then play the "blame the "librul" media" game that works so well in those circles. Those who love Rudy want to believe anything BUT the truth.

9. But as I keep saying...
....the major difference is that most people see Bill Clinton as a genuinely nice guy. Whether he really is or it's just a facade is up for debate, but Rudy CANNOT project niceness, even if his campaign depends on it. He can only be tough.

And I think most voters would choose a wimpy nice guy over a tough jerk any day of the week.

10. John Edwards seems to be a "nice guy" but not wimpy.
He didn't win so many of his case against Corps by being wimpy.

15. Nah...They Want An Asshole
Last summer I met a Ghouliani "supporter" in suburban Philly. In our several hours of jousting, never once did he call Rudy a nice guy. In fact every time I called Rudy an asshole, this guy agreed and said "that's what makes him a leader". These are the people who think either A-rabs or Mexicans or some boogie man is about to jump out and fly an airplane into their head. They're scared shit and want a big daddy to make it all ok. They desire an authoritarian figure.

16. The vast, vast majority of women would hesitate to vote for an asshole.
Call me sexist, but that's what I believe. Your male GOP voter might think like the guy from Philly--if they were willing to look past every other sleazy shenanigan, that is--but not women.

If Superman was an obnoxious, arrogant jerk who openly cheated on one wife after another, women would vote for Aquaman.

17. We're Talking About The 25% Dead-Enders Here
Polls keep showing women aren't too hot on Rudy (and this was before the Shag Fund came to light)...and of those who do, they are like Michelle Maulkin. The vast majority of Rudy's support in the GOOP are white males...and his trump card was that he could bring the suburban "law and order" men. Remember, this is the Repugnican party...the party of the angry white man...where morals only extend to the water's edge.

Remember, a vast majority of these people voted for boooosh twice...despite all questions on his character. All that matters is the power.

Cheers...

12. What's better for us Democratics?
If Guilliani squeezes through or if Huckabee wins the nomination?

The best thing for us would be for the morally more corrupt candidate to win the Republican nomination so that our candidate can crucify him during the final election, right?

They hate his guts and if the R's are insane enough to choose that ass the FDNY will take care of it.

But I agree, probably Huckleberry.

unless he stood on a brick, and even then, he'd probably miss the mark.
