The hostage taker is crazy, drunk, going through a divorce, and those are ROADSIDE flares in his
bomb. He's depressed on top of everything else....suicide by cop, maybe? He should do that in a place where he isn't WELL KNOWN to police...!

Channel 9 is getting ready to interview the stepson and ex (or soon to be) wife.

So, as of this minute he's either a RW nut, or a non-political nut.

6. He said he wanted help, and there is an ad running in very regular rotation
that shows an older "everyman" looking into the camera and telling us how Senator Clinton helped his family with his seriously ill and near-death son.

Maybe, in his disordered mind, he thought the Senator could "save" his failed marriage. He might have looked at the guy, and said "He looks like me--if she can help him, she can help me!"

Most people start to hallucinate after about 40 hours without sleep.

I stayed up for 44 hours straight one time back during Film School, and that's about when I started hallucinating.

16. He's BEEN unemployed. He's been Not Quite Right for the last three months, too.
Having to do with the divorce. Odds are good he's medically noncompliant on top of everything else.

He is well known to Rochester cops as a consequence of his mental illness, apparently. His stepson calls him "harmless."

Seeing as he's on a three day drunk, he's probably got a helluva tolerance. If I tried to drink for three days running, I wouldn't get past a chunk of Day One.

It explains why the police are standing around in very mellow fashion--they know who he is, how drunk he is, what he's packing (road flares), and what the odds are for him doing harm to anyone other than himself.

It isn't clear if there's anyone left in the office either, at this point, per Channel 9 in NH. They might be just waiting the guy out.

If I were them, I'd send in a pizza and a bottle of whiskey laced with sleeping pills!

40. The best interview was with a cute young lady named Chelsea Cool
She works at the Governor's Inn where the stepson went to get coffee for himself and his mom, as they need a lift because they were being interviewed quite relentlessly by cops to figure out what the deal was with Crazy McRoadFlare, there.

He told Chelsea everything about the guy's state of mind, drinking, and so on, as she was getting him the coffee--that's where the salient info is coming from.

64. What difference does it make if I DESCRIBE her for those who aren't by their TVs?
Jesus. I could ask why you're so fucking OFFENDED by a description? Care for some CHEESE with that?

You sound, for all the world, like someone who is FURIOUS that this lovely YOUNG and BEAUTIFUL woman, with dark hair and flawless skin and lovely eyes, to say nothing of a delightful speaking voice and a VERY pleasant demeanor, has these qualities.

And that sounds like your own little PERSONAL problem.

One more time, there, Hyper-Sensitive--the woman was quoting the stepson who was quoting the crazy guy, Leeland. That's the ORIGIN of the word, capisce???

You want they should EDIT the term, pretend the guy didn't say, per the stepson reporting to the PRETTY young lady, that word? For "political correctness?" That's your sick idea about how things should be reported? Change what he said, because it 'sounds too much like roadside bomb.' That's almost the stupidest reason I've ever heard for changing a FACT.

Your remarks about Fox and Bush, too, show me exactly where YOU'RE coming from--and it ain't a 'regular' place, either.

Your anger is unreasonable--it comes off like a fit of jealous pique, frankly.

36. Great sentiment
The great majority of people who do insane things like this are not politically motivated. They are mentally ill, or going through major life-upsetting events that skew their perception of reality. This was not some RW Hillary-hater I can almost guarantee. He was a mentally ill man, probably with drugs/alcohol usage, and probably some precipitating event that triggered things. It wasn't some confederate-flag waving gun nut who drove up from Alabama in a pick-up truck to teach HRC a lesson. As much as some on DU would like to believe that.

This man needs sympathy for his illness and he needs treatment. All this immediate attacking of him is unseemly.

49. People in that state, whether mentally ill, drunks, or just fairly normal, can become pretty weird
When one hurts that much, one can lash out, try to control in profoundly horrible ways, or cause enough damage to 'show em' in some wrong-headed plan to extract some sort of revenge.

It is a very bad time and too many people don't grasp just how ugly it can get.

Then, there is Christmas coming up. Time for all really disturbed, hurting people to ratchet up the intensity. Always breaks my heart. So many really hurt people, limping along trying to function until one thing too many hits and they snap.

Glad the police didn't have to take the guy out. That puts a horrible burden on some poor cop trying to get through his/her day.

44. Probably stalking his soon-to-be ex-wife.
Police log entries:

7:51 p.m. --Leeland Eisenberg, 46, of Milton Road, 16, is charged with two counts of stalking.
------------------------------
With the help of a resident who called to report a suspected drunken driver on Washington Street, police charged Leeland Eisenberg, 46, of 182 Milton Road, Apartment 16, Rochester with driving while intoxicated.

And the letter (Capt. Dumas becomes the local saint):

Rochester police get slap in the face

To the editor:

The Rochester Police Department was trying to be proactive and help the citizen's of Rochester from thieves and what they got was a slap in the face.

For every minute that Capt. Dumas has to spend dealing with the antics of Leeland Eisenberg it is one less minute he has to spend helping someone with something important. Mr. Eisenberg is wasting the time and the money of the taxpayers.

Police officers risk their life every day helping people, and to make them question if they should put a piece of paper in a car is just wrong.

Why can't people focus on the important things?

To the editor

I am unsure how a country can impeach a president with a 60-70 percent approval rating for a private sexual affair yet somehow think that the Bush crime family has not committed impeachable offenses.

We now have an administration that outs covert CIA agents for political reasons and pushes us into what is quickly looking like two illegal wars of aggression. Impeach these criminals, stop funding the illegal war accept for the funds to have a full immediate withdrawal and stop dragging your feet for fear of political retaliation.

Democrats were elected to put and end to all of this, not to politically tiptoe through to the next election.

Fliers prompt criticism: Outcry erupts over Rochester police warnings left in unlocked vehicles

ROCHESTER — Police have stopped placing fliers in unlocked cars warning residents about motor vehicle thefts after one resident complained his constitutional rights were violated.

Leeland Eisenberg of Gonic is questioning the new police strategy that had officers checking for unlocked vehicles, opening the doors and placing fliers on the driver's seat urging residents to lock their doors.

...

"What they're doing is going around during the middle of the night under the pretense they're looking out for your property rights and they're telling you 'we found your car unlocked and you should always lock your car and valuables up, don't be a victim of property crime,'" Eisenberg said. "Well, I just was a victim of property crime; you entered my vehicle unlawfully without a warrant."

57. Crazy man thought the cops were searching his car and having a party--using the
ashtray, yee haw.

I suppose they could always make it a city ordinance that unlocked cars are subject to towing, all fees to be paid by the car owner. That would give the police more authority do a safety search once they have the car in their possession...and all simply to try to reduce car theft.

That said, I do, in actual fact, agree with the larger point, but there wasn't any INTENT to abrogate rights--I do believe that.

Getting the police to cease should have been the end of it. The "I'm gonna SUE" attitude just fucks a small town with a limited budget, and is the action of a crank who seeks attention.

63. His name's spelled Leeland, though.
And if you Google that, you'll get several articles
from Foster's Daily Democrat that show previous
"interactions" with the Rochester police.

He's just your average deranged NH White Guy with
a Grudge or Ten; we have them by the thousands.

Eisenberg said police did this to his red Chevrolet Monte Carlo early Tuesday morning while it was parked at the McDuffee Brook Place apartment complex, where he lives. Eisenberg said he's "outraged" because police opened his vehicle without permission.

Eisenberg said he's complained to the state attorney general, the governor and the U.S. attorney.

"What they're doing is going around during the middle of the night under the pretense they're looking out for your property rights and they're telling you 'we found your car unlocked and you should always lock your car and valuables up, don't be a victim of property crime,'" Eisenberg said. This article tells you just how disordered his mind is, frankly--if people are gonna search your car surreptitiously, they aren't gonna make themselves at home, smokin' and jokin' while they do it!!!

He apparently was due in court today at 1:30 (with his wife)
for a final "domestic violence" hearing. Instead, he went to
the Clinton campaign office and took several people, mostly
young women, hostage.
