"The President is Popular With the Military," NPR Reporter States as a Fact
http://nprcheck.blogspot.com/

Last night, while listening to NPR, I almost drove off the road. NPR reporter Guy Raz had a story about Bush going to the Pentagon to attack the Dems for not quickly approving all the tens of billions for the Iraq occupation that he wants, without any conditions.

Raz then made this stunning statement:

"The President is popular with the military. As he walked down one of the Pentagon famously long corridors uniformed men and women shouted and applauded; some snapped pictures. Many of them agree with the President's argument that support for the troops requires unconditional Congressional funding for the war."
---
So let's see, some people who are not serving in Iraq applauded. Some people who are lined up for future high-paying jobs with bloated defense contractors applauded. Therefore, it is a statement of fact that the military supports Bush and wants Congress to approve endless war with no conditions and no attempt to start to leave.

Has he actually talked to anyone who recently served in Iraq?

There too many mouthpieces for this admin on the payroll over there. That idiot Juan Williams is pretty high up on that list.

5. george bush is so popular with this veteran
that I ensured my retirement letter of appreciation from the Commander in Chief was signed by Bill Clinton instead of george bush even though I retired in 2002.

7. did we ever learn
who the Soldiers overseas voted for in 2004 and 2006? Usually it's trumpeted from the rooftops (when they vote for Bush), but I don't remember hearing anything the last two times.

The Myth of Disengagement

As the Annapolis meeting draws near NPR has unloaded a barrage of nonsense about the Israeli Palestinian conflict. It goes without saying, that NPR continues the portrayal of the systematic, violent Israeli destruction of Palestinian life, culture, and society as some kind of balanced conflict between two adversaries. I now have an idea of how NPR would have covered the 19th century wars of genocide waged by the US against the American Indians. There would have been talk of peace conferences and "compromise," Indian terrorism, "legal" and "illegal" settlers, militants and moderates, and nothing of the massacres, broken treaties, brazen land thefts and ethnic cleansing.

whoa! hot stuff there!!

18. Not true. Ask an active duty soldier or Marine
like my son. There's a reason this administration has never released how the military voted in the last election. Sure, more votes for Bush than Kerry in the presidential election. But the military vote for Republicans has been diminishing with every election since Bush took office. He is a very unpopular president - and that includes the military. The mid-terms showed that voters in the areas around military bases were increasingly voting Democratic.
The majority of active duty soldiers and Marines may still support our invasion of Iraq. However, that is not the same as saying they support Bush. My Marine son has 3 tours in Iraq. His view, which he says is shared by at least half, is that Bush is a privileged dilettante who skipped out on his Guard service who has no real understanding of military service or how to lead our country.
