Christmas port call for REUBEN JAMES canceled by China
Another call canceled, piled up on top of their simply unacceptable refusal of the Minesweepers safe harbor.

We need to stop coddling these SOB's in PACCOM, we used to have a good naval relationship with China, very cordial and respectful. If they don't want to play ball than ADM Keating needs to cancel their visit to Hawaii and the Visits to SD and Seattle need to stop too. They need to be kept out of all of the conferences and other events they normally participate in as well.

1. Sooner or later we're going to have to stand up to China.
It's pretty obvious that they have bad intentions for us and eventually they will act upon them. We need to reverse the economic ties we've built up over the last 20 years regardless of the repercussions to our multinational corporations.

3. Exactly and this one is going to me "my" war
A Naval war, PACCOM has done a good job over the years keeping thing calm over there while we were tied up elsewhere, but it is coming and may come sooner than we think.

2. Ratcheting up the tit-for-tat would be unwise given the shakey dollar
There is too much interdependence of the two economies to play any funny games at this point.

4. Might as well get started now
before the "hot" war starts.

5. I think we should put a tariff or tax or whatever on everything from China
coming into this country, must the same as they do to American goods. That will put a stop to their economic surge, financed by the credit of Americans who are really too stupid to understand what they're doing when they shop at Wal-Mart and buy cheap imported shit.

Once China realizes their economy depends as much on America as it does on anything else, perhaps they'll be more cooperative. And, if the Chinese economy does slow down, perhaps so will their need for oil, which will reduce world demand and lower gas prices everywhere.

I'm sick of China. They have horrible working conditions for their people, they don't protect them from hazards, and they are killing our pets and trying to poison us with their dangerous cheap goods that they ship to us. Perhaps we should add an hazardous substance inspection fee to everything from China as well, for our own protection.

10. Why do people like you assume that everybody who expresses some dislike for another country
want to nuke them? It's a dumb way to try to shut down debate.

8. Small correction, the USS Reuben James is a Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate
Not a minesweeper.

First heard of that ship in "Red Storm Rising" by Tom Clancy.

:-)

9. Have you heard of the ship called the good Reuben James,
Manned by hard fighting men both of honor and of fame?
She flew the Stars and Stripes of the Land of the Free,
But tonight she's in her grave at the bottom of the sea.
