The troops morale IS being affected by Congressional Resolutions
Edited on Sat Feb-17-07 07:48 PM by Vinnie From Indy
The troops are dancing in the streets and doing back flips of joy in direct response to the Democratic effort to extract them from Bush's nightmare in Iraq.

Stars & Stripes did a survey in 2003 and found:

"A broad survey of U.S. troops in Iraq by a Pentagon-funded newspaper found that half of those questioned described their unit's morale as low and their training as insufficient, and said they do not plan to reenlist.

The survey, conducted by the Stars and Stripes newspaper, also recorded about a third of the respondents complaining that their mission lacks clear definition and characterizing the war in Iraq as of little or no value. Fully 40 percent said the jobs they were doing had little or nothing to do with their training."

This survey was FOUR YEARS ago at the BEGINNING of the war. This survey was taken before the '04 elections and long before the Democrats were in power.

How were the troops feeling three years later in Feb 2006? Here are the results of a Zogby International survey of the troops:

"An overwhelming majority of 72% of American troops serving in Iraq think the U.S. should exit the country within the next year, and more than one in four say the troops should leave immediately, a new Le Moyne College/Zogby International survey shows.

The poll, conducted in conjunction with Le Moyne College’s Center for Peace and Global Studies, showed that 29% of the respondents, serving in various branches of the armed forces, said the U.S. should leave Iraq “immediately,” while another 22% said they should leave in the next six months. Another 21% said troops should be out between six and 12 months, while 23% said they should stay “as long as they are needed.”

It seems that the vast majority (73%)of American soldiers in Iraq in Feb. 2006 would have preferred to have been home by now.

Tell all the denial freaks on the right wing that the troop's morale is being affected in a POSITIVE way because they want to come home.

7. Great Post! Nice way to use repug words to illustrate their spin too.
I clicked on your post because I was wondering "wtf" but maybe you had something. Instead you've used their words to our advantage. I hope that this material got used in the hearings...it is terrific stuff for shutting down one of their main talking points. Great post, thanks for posting this Vinnie From Indy.

8. There is no doubt in my mind that any person involved in combat
would jump at the chance to come home. Yes, a few would stay but very few. Those working in a safe office might be willing to stay a little longer. When you are worried about getting your ass shot off you could care less what the people at home are thinking.
