If a bear sh*ts in the woods,
and nothing is around to smell it, does it still stink?

If Bush commits an impeachable offense, and the Congress does ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY NOTHING about it, is he above the law?

What is this crap about impeachment being a right of Congress, but not a duty of Congress? Bullshit.

Our Congresspersons took a sacred oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, foreign AND domestic...

and, if the POTUS commits a crime against the Constitution, then that POTUS is a domestic enemy of the U.S.A., and Congress has a DUTY to protect the Constitution by impeaching the POTUS.

If they choose not to do so by saying it's a "right" but not a "duty"...they become accessories after the fact.

To know to do what is just, and to refuse to do it, is criminal.

it's not Congress' duty to impeach. Unbelievable.

8. If Congress won't impeach this pResident...
no president will ever be held accountable in the future. The presidency is quickly becoming a license to commit felonies.

we wouldn't have Cheney today. Or Rumsfeld.

That's enough for me.

16. They should have impeached him,
even after he resigned. He would have lost all the benefits of having served in office (if you can call what he did "service.")

31. I read that one too, more than unbelievable, its sad, and inexcusable that impeachment
is not yet being acted upon.

Regardless of some people's attempt to legitimize our leaders with trumped up excuses as to why impeachment has not yet been begun they have no honest footing to stand on with such lame excuses considering that with each day that passes we continue to see the destruction of the people's rights being eroded with nothing stopping them.

the congress is not obligated to impeach, and given the near-certain outcome, they're wise not to.

So, answer me this: How can one protect the Constitution and turn a blind eye to an executive who shits all over it?

9. Well since they work for US
and the vast majority of the American public want impeachment, then yes, they are obligated to impeach.

Then there's that thing about upholding the constitution :eyes:

23. No answer
will satisfy you. You think impeachment and impeachment alone can "uphold" the constitution.

But it isn't going to happen. Nobody in any position of authority thinks it's a good idea.

So you're just going to have to be disappointed.

Bullshit. "Nobody" is a strong word to use when a majority in Congress sent an impeachment resolution to the House Judiciary Committee.

18. The rw fundie DA in my county just got caught lying about his residence
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2359405

And the local Dems are just twiddling their thumbs saying oh no there's nothing we can do. Oh he's so bad but we have to just wait until we can run a good Dem for that office next November.

And I am so pissed off I could fucking scream. This is the new mentality in this country. No accountability for law breakers. It starts with the president and trickles down to local district attorneys.

And it is just not acceptable to me. Not in the least.

If it fails, so be it, at least there will be notation in the history books that they tried. Personally, I think impeachment is too good for this pair. They need to be tried and imprisoned for war crimes.

they should be impeached and I won't quit writing my sen and rep and telling them that until either they do or they leave office. I'm sure I'm on the shitcan immediately list as I seldom get the same ole form letters anymore. maybe they just figure I'm getting tired of reading the same thing over and over so they're gonna liten up on me a little I don't know. I do know bush/cheney and company needs to be impeached and tried on war crimes charges, now I do know that for sure.

Edited on Fri Nov-30-07 01:35 PM by Solly Mack
Yes - Bush is allowed to break laws, abuse the powers of office, and violate the Constitution.

Everything Bush has done and gotten away with (which is everything) is something he is allowed to do.

Obviously...because otherwise
