Feds billing RNC big bucks to recover erased Rove emails

$250,000:

Amount it has cost the RNC to recover missing e-mails sent by Karl Rove and other White House aides on political e-mail accounts. House investigators have charged the RNC with overseeing the “extensive destruction” of these e-mails, which may have violated the Presidential Records Act. The $250,000 has gone to former FBI agents hired to retrieve the lost e-mails and to lawyers hired to defend the RNC.

1. $250,000 is NOT a lot of money for them. It's as much as a small media buy. n/t

3. Have you seen their Cash on Hand balance lately?
Less than a couple of million. RNC is cash poor this election cycle.

12. I hope it bankrupts them
Wouldn't it be funny if Rove drove them to the poor house. You know they'll be screaming for relief from the feds too.

4. In light of what we're learning today about Scott Bloch,
I think the only way to stop the Republican hard-drive wiping will be to make the punishment for wiping even worse than the punishment for whatever crime they're trying to cover up.

11. I'm still in shock

that Feds or anyone else is actually investigating rove. This is thrilling news that the Feds are billing the rnc(ratznationallycornered) for retrieving the "lost" emails!

How does one go about getting back emails that say..rove tried to destroy? I'm not a technie and I'm curious how they could even do that?

14. Nothing in cyberspace really goes away completely
When you erase something, it isn't erased like rubbing out pencil marks. Just the identifier is removed/changed. People go in and look at all the garbage hanging around your system and reestablish the identifiers.

17. This shows just ho fiscally stupid the
GOP really is. you would think that with all the billions plundered from the treasury, SOMEBODY would have set aside just one Billion to cover this election, legal fees and investigations.

oh yeah they thought they were invincible.
