Romney Supports Letting All Cubans Migrate To U.S.

By MIKE SALINERO, The Tampa Tribune

Published: November 28, 2007

TAMPA - Like other Republican presidential contenders, Mitt Romney favors a get-tough policy on illegal immigrants. But Romney's desire for tougher immigration enforcement doesn't apply to Cubans, who he says should be welcomed with open arms.

"I can tell you my inclination would be to say as many Cubans as want to come here should come in," Romney said in an interview Tuesday with The Tampa Tribune editorial board.

...

He was then asked about the "wet feet, dry feet" policy under which Cuban immigrants stopped by U.S. ships at sea are sent back to Cuba, but those who make it to dry ground are allowed to remain. They can later qualify for expedited permanent residence status.

Romney replied that Cuban Americans are exemplary citizens who have brought "great vitality, skills and energy to the American experience."

"In my opinion, the more the merrier," he said.

3. what a hypocritical, pandering ass Romney is
Guess he knows who really tips the balance in electoral votes in Florida: psychotic right-wing Cuban exiles. There's so much blathering about the Israeli-AIPAC lobby, that the Cuban exile lobby and its members in Congress have managed to escape a lot of notice.

5. The Cubans here don't want yet ANOTHER Mariel of crazies and criminals....
It gives their community a BAD name!!!!

What they actually want is for Mittsy to go to Cuba and kick Fidel's ass, and reclaim for them all of the property that Castro nationalized. THAT's what they REALLY want. That ain't gonna happen, though, but they sure can dream.

And they don't want a whole bunch of dusky Cubans--you know, the ones that used to be the poor, unwashed peasants--coming over here with their advanced degrees and their fucking WORK ETHIC, their cheerful ten hour days and six day work weeks, showing everyone else up...!

Ahhh, Mittsy, ya shitsy...you are so fucking stoooooooopid, it's just incredible!!!!!
