10. Actually, YES.
Some of it is nutty. Some of it is chatty. But some is amazingly informative. She has a good gift for bringing the dark into the light and including everyone in the process. Her money and following is well earned.

36. She did a show recently on healthcare in America with Michael Moore and a shill from the insurance i
industry (I freely admit to a strong bias on the issue...).

It was quite good--no shouting, she kept the discussion on point, and though she stayed unbiased, Moore clearly won the debate.

I've rarely watched but if they could do the Dem debates more like this than what they are doing, we'd all be better off.

OTOH, most of her program is pretty silly, IMHO.

37. Her show on Sicko was good. So was the one on Autism which blew the lid off the hand pharma giants

have had in triggering the Autism epidemic in children. Now 1 in 150.

Other than that, I'm not "feeling the love" these days-especially since Oprah's behind pushing Preacher Obama as the next President. NO Thanks! :puke:

these days I'm going to invest in a hearing aid - when I have room for another payment plan.

13. What's your problem? She does more good than harm...
Is DU fabulous? I think a lot of her daily topics mirror many here at DU.

Some are intelligent, funny, witty, intelligent crazy, 'out there', factual, spacey, humorous, entertaining... etc.

What's the difference?

At least she actually raises money to help those in need.

16. I used to like Oprah okay.
Then some years ago I caught her "white guilt" show and have been turned off by her ever since.

Before I'm accused of being a racist, I should mention that my immediate family consists of nearly every race under the sun.

28. Dunno about fab, but she's way cool...
and when I see her dissed around here I can't help thinking it's just childish jealousy that she's rich and famous. (Along with a good helping of righteous indignation that she's not absolutely, positively following somone's party line.)

There will be rich and famous people, like it or not, and I say we'd be better off if more of them were Oprahs.

I am not jealous of the "rich and famous"; I simply can see through people. While I'm glad she's ensdorsing a Dem candidate I cannot be compelled to like her.

29. Oprah is a very tallented woman, and has a lot of fans. I like her,
though I never listen to her show. I think she is going to draw HUGH CROWDS if people to hear her and Obama, but I really don't think she's going to convert that attraction to votes for him. I think a lot of people will go to see and hear Oprah! Time will tell, and if I were Obama, I would have welcomed her strong support too! I just don't think the reaction that the media is pushing is going to happen.

I really get the impression from Oprah that if something is good enough for her billionaire self, it must be good for everybody. She is very insulated from the real world and real people.
