IRV and Fusion voting (Can we Get this on the Ballot)

IRV and Fusion voting (Can we Get this on the Ballot)
So, I am part of a progressive group in Michigan that really wants to get IRV or Fusion voting on the ballot in Michigan for 08. We feel that this would open up our democracy and allow people to have more of a real choice in their government. An example of fusion voting is found in South Carolina and New York with the Working Families Party here:

And IRV voting is present in some cities and townships. What do others think? Should this be a huge focus of progressives? The Dems and Reps will NEVER support these measures int he state legislatures because it threatens their power...BUT we can place it on ballot initiatives and I think the Left and Right would support it.
