Will Cheney Heart Problems Lead to Early Resignation of VP?
THere are plenty of threads concentrating on the corrupt and evil nature of Cheney.

Let's try to examine the consequences of Cheney resigning over heart problems from a different perspective.

Putting the personal health considerations aside, ....

What would be the strategic reasons for Cheney to resign his VP position early?

Personal protection from pending investigations?

Allowing a Repub Presidential Candidate to step into the office and serve as VP through the 2008 Election?

What do you think if Cheney announces he is stepping down?

6. the real question. Did Kucinich "cause" the heart problems with his move?
and is this a convenient out for the admin to replace him, and change the entire make-up of the admin and the election?

8. call me cynical, I think we're getting our chains yanked
they pulled this shit during the recount and then low and behold he's hunting for pheasant a few weeks later.

it would be callous for someone to come out and say it but Bush and Cheney Lie about everything, and I wouldn't put it past them to pull sympathy strings the same week they are calling for a permanent occupation of Iraq and smash out some semblance of a mideast peace deal.

11. This would be excellent strategery on the GOP's part
* could basically anoint his successor -- I'm guessing he'll pick either Jeb or Gen. Patraeus. No way Hillary would survive against either of those two candidates.

21. I don't care how evil that son of a bitch is
eventually he is going to die. I think he'll hang on to power as long as possible, he becomes more vunerable when he leaves office.

22. There's nothing to be gained by his resignation
Anyone put in as VP will be tainted by Bush, and the move will be so obvious that it will turn people off even further. Cheney knows he's hated, and wouldn't want the additional stigma of being only the second VP to resign. Being mentioned in the same sentence as Spiro Agnew all the time couldn't possibly be good. It would make him stick out, and I think Cheney would really like to just be forgotten after the whole thing's over, like most VPs are who don't go on to become president.

I do think there's a possibility this is an elaborate ruse to cover up some other bit of breaking news, though. I wouldn't put that past them.
