BIG STORY tonight on ABC NEWS:
Air travel, trains went 'fantastic' today...no horrors...they had to go to the Greyhound Bus Station in Chicago to find someone who was upset...and she was in a pretty good mood.

No story here...it was the Bush Administration's allowing of military airspace to be used. Yay!

Wait...I thought this was going to be the worst travel day in the history of the world...that's a little over 5000 years, right? I had to watch the cable channels claim that this was going to be the case for two whole weeks now. What happened????

:sarcasm:

11. By spending time on a traditional non-story, they fill out the air time
without having to do any work. Send a camera crew to the airport, natter on about all the travelers and you're good to go until the first commercial.

2. I do not miss the 6:30 news. In fact, I'm much happier without that drivel blaring out the idiot box
not that I don't watch television shows, I do.

It's just all the news that's total crap.

4. The "other" story: An Inconvenient Guest
Gore will be in the Oval Office tomorrow for his Nobel prize honors.

Its called "A Chilly Reception", and the coverage is HUGELY in Gore's favor. Lots of Gore video, good comments about Gore's accomplishments and Bush's failures.

It's good to see Gore in the media so favorably... very very painful to be reminded of 2000.

7. I know what you mean...
many folks who knew me gave me historical books, DVD's, whatever, about the recount. I've never ever been able to look at any of them...it was like watching the Bataan Death March for this country...

still can't deal...

8. OH well
So much for my cynical ability to predict the future.

I thought commerical airliners would have been shot down over the bases because THEY DIDN'T GET THE MEMO. (Al Quaida took it)

I was wrong.......

The truth will be out by then.
This will be the worst buying season in a decade.
I'm with you on the BS news reports tonight - the mall area in my town was very (in comparison with two years ago) quiet this past Friday.

12. My uncle is an air traffic controller at New York Center
and he was saying that they use the military airspace on holidays anyway because the military usually doesn't run many flights during those times. All a sham, of course, how could we expect otherwise?

14. I worked at National Airport
in Washington DC for ten years. And only one year was the weather not crappy with delays and cancellations on at least one half of the Thanksgiving holiday. And lots of years it was a horror show on both ends. So while this isn't the most important news in the world, it is worth noting.

One year (December 1. 1974) the Sunday after Thanksgiving was made even more joyous by the crash of a plane which was supposed to arrive at National, but was diverted to Dulles because of strong cross winds. As I recall, National was closed pretty much all day because of the weather.

So yeah, the fact that the holiday travel went smoothly does matter a lot to some people.
