10. that's a beautiful photo
you know folks are usually surprised when we tell them the three parrots eat human food.

And corn bread is one of their favorites

4. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

:hi:

I didn't have either friends or family to spend it with, but at least I got a little house cleaning done.

Maybe I'll be more fortunate at Christmas. I bake a mean pie and I give great gifts, but it's tough to get an invite when you're single.

And the kids will hate it, they will get some chocolate coins to play

And if you are in town I am sure I can convince sis to add an extra plate... she had plenty today and then some

13. Lorien, doncha think sometimes holidays are over-rated?
I cooked the bird and some of the basic, plus goodies from bakery. Not a fan of cooking. Had some quiet time and some family time. I call my Thanksgiving a "boofay" situation. Call the kids and say, come over when you get a chance. The micro warms things really fine, not like the old days. Sit down feasts bore and terrify me as I am not a punctual person.

Holidays make people feel obligated to perform in certain ways. When things don't go well people take it way too serious. My motto is, come on over when you can, since there is usually another family involved. Works great for my husband and me and it seems to work well for the others. The grandkids can pop in and out and not feel like they have to stay and entertain us, ha.

The businesses try very hard to brainwash the public, putting pressure on people to buy the right thing, do the right thing. Hell, keeping it lose is the only way to go. Course I'm old and have done this routine for way too many years.

But, it's been a good day. Full stomach and now drinking my toddy and checking on the polling data, ha

Single people are the ones that need an invite to drop in eat and chat. That is what thanksgiving means in the long run. Rituals can become boring, people need to loosen up. We often had drop ins during holidays and they always added spice to the conversation.

12. Mine was a 71 cent turkey..
Smart & Final had a $10-off coupon if you spent $70, and I found a small turkey that cost $10.71 :)

14. dinner is tomorrow
Edited on Fri Nov-23-07 12:58 AM by kineneb
I spent most of the day sitting out on the patio with Hubby. The air was a bit chilly, but it was warm sitting in the sun. He sat and relaxed while I carded wool. I was really "thankful" that he was able to get back up the 5 stairs to the house by himself. After two weeks in the hospital and several days to recover, he got to enjoy the sun. The docs are unable to do much about his medical problems except make him as comfortable as possible.

Tomorrow, dinner comes to our house. All I provide is dishes, dining space and a salad (from the garden).

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

17. How could you say there's "nothing on TV" when Alton Brown is on?
Edited on Fri Nov-23-07 03:12 AM by Basileus Basileon
Any show with Alton is worth watching. Love love love Alton Brown.

Happy Thanksgiving, btw--despite your obvious lack of appreciation for the greatest man to ever inform me that Stuffing Is Evil ;)
