Lawyers for Poisoned Russian Agent Take Case to EU Human Rights Court

Lawyers for the widow of former Russian intelligence agent Alexander Litvinenko said they filed papers with the European Court of Human Rights Thursday, alleging Russia's complicity in his poisoning.

Louise Christian told The Associated Press the papers had been lodged with the Strasbourg-based court, which also accuse Russia of failing to investigate the crime.

However, Christian declined to provide any further details of the allegations before a press conference Friday to mark the anniversary of the former security agent's death.

Litvinenko died in a London hospital on Nov. 23, 2006 after ingesting radioactive Isotope Polonium-210.
