Several years ago, I was in the habit of looking up this guy from time to time, as I used to live near where he lived, but I stopped a few years back. Then yesterday, I picked up the
Washington City Paper and saw this in
News of the Weird:
Creme de la Weird
In Charlottesville, Va., in October, a judge found white-nationalist leader Kevin Strom not guilty of the sexual enticement of an 11-year-old girl, despite humiliating testimony from Strom's wife. According to prosecutors, she (also a white-nationalist activist) had caught him at home naked, masturbating to photographs of nude women whose faces had been replaced by face shots of two prominent but very young white-nationalist singers. Subsequently, charges were filed over Strom's obsession with a local girl (to whom he had sent presents and about whom he had described his feelings to his psychotherapist). However, in the end, a federal judge said the obsession did not amount to a crime (though Strom remains in jail on a child pornography charge).
I haven't linked to the latest article in
The Hook, but here is an article from April:
NEWS- More porn? New charges against white supremacistAccording to the U.S. attorney's office, between January 2004 and August 2006, Strom allegedly tried to persuade a 10-year-old to engage in sexual activity. The indictment also alleges that he physically assaulted and mentally intimidated a witness to keep her from reporting his criminal activities.
Strom has been held in custody since his January 4 arrest. "We would oppose any bond," says Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Gould, who is prosecuting the case.
Branded a neo-Nazi for his allegedly racist publications, Strom is a former protégé of William Pierce, whose Turner Diaries inspired Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. Strom split from the National Alliance in 2005, after Pierce's death, and formed a group called the National Vanguard.
According to Mark Potok, editor of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project, Strom's interest in young girls was well known and his own website bordered on "soft-core" porn. In the mid-1990s, Strom had a section called "Feminine Beauty" devoted to photographs of young girls, and he seemed charmed by the teenaged Brooke Shields-- especially on horseback.
The "two prominent but very young white-nationalist singers" mentioned in Chuck Shepherd's article in
NOTW are Prussian Blue. Think Ashley Twins, but with Hitler t-shirts.
