Why is it that there is nothing about JFK on any news ?
Not one word as if it never happened . Just because the 22nd happened to land on thanksgiving .

I know there were posts here and on other forums but nothing anywhere else .

1. they will probably do more next year
since it will be the 45th . they usually make big deals of things when it's every fifth or tenth year of something.

2. Those who control it don't want younger Americans asking us older Americans
what a real leader was like.

3. It's like any other historical event; the farther it recedes along the timeline

the less attention is paid. Next year it will likely get some more attention, being a major anniversary (45th).

There was an interesting opinion piece in the NY Times today, though: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/22/opinion/22holland.html

When all of us who were alive when JFK was assassinated are gone, there'll probably be no attention paid to it at all, unless some major historical discovery takes place, or archival documents telling a new tale get released.

I was born in 1951; President McKinley was assassinated in 1901, so that was just a dusty old item in a dusty old history book by the time I read it in grammar school.

22. But that's a different type of story
Kennedy's assassination was the first to be seen on live television. Not too many people are going to forget that any time soon.

And it seems to me that there are a lot of younger people who are plenty interested in conspiracy theories, to make this event last for generations.

23. True, yet those interested in conspiracies will have other grist to grind
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 10:21 PM by mcscajun
9/11 for one example, and what comes after today. New conspiracy theories for new events will always find an audience.

Yes, there are always history buffs, and conspiracy buffs. There are still people interested in the "real story" of Lincoln's assassination, yet the question here is why the news doesn't cover the JFK story on an anniversary in more depth, not whether people are interested or not.

7. Simple. He wasn't a Republican.
If this were the anniversary of a famous Repub President, you'd be treated to half-hour long extravaganzas.

And the media today don't like the Kennedys.

I don't even know if the History Channel even mentioned it. I watched a couple hours of the History channel and it was all about the history of snack foods, now they have Forest Gump.

12. i have heard it said that poppy bush was involved in the murder of JFK ... so you know,
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 08:48 PM by flordehinojos
the bushes now control the press, the propaganda, the spin. the less said about JFK ... the less the need of people and of the press to try and find out what really happened or who really killed JFK.

I wonder what was it that Oswald knew, which made Jack Ruby want to shoot Oswald as the police was transfering Oswald out the police station... i also wonder what covert connections jack ruby may have had that may have made him privy to whatever secrets there are about the actual shooting of Kennedy.

I was in Jackson, Mississippi, purchasing a LP record from a record store when a friend came in with tears in her eyes with the news that Kennedy had been shot ... people in the store went into sort of a shock state.

13. one more thing they scheme to do....
Nov22nd should be a day of rememberance: JFK was more then just a dead president, he represented a dynamic future to everybody on earth. His murder was the first big scheme carried out by the pig using tv to create immediacy among the population- it was due to 'news bulletins' that we remember where we were, though it was mid afternoon (i can recall all the teachers' shocked faces- we kids were very quiet, but the effect of the murder truly affected everybody; "they' killed President Kennedy, the teachers said, school immediately let out, the janitor lowered the flag to 1/2 mast. At home, the tv was all about the murder; there were long periods when nothing was said, sometimes 5 minutes or even longer, just video of white house, or a map of texas, with no audio etc, yet we all watched silently. Somehow, Kennedy wasn't remote- he was like a really really neat cousin, only he also most powerful man in the world (we thought)
Had John Kennedy lived, no way nixon ever be prez, or old bush, and especially no way reagan. The pigmedia doesn't want people to think about that. They want people to think everything happens with supreme logic, at the behest of an old sexist racist dude in the sky ...having junyer bush as the 'president' is almost their karma writ large (lol)

14. it does seem subdued this year compared to most years
of course, it's the 44th anniversary--there was tons of coverage on the 40th anniversary, and will surely be more next year than this, along with a ton in six years.

17. Well, 44 years isn't much of an anniversary
especially for a bunch of blow dried corporate hacks who weren't even in diapers when it happened. I imagine we'll see a little next year and a lot in 6 years, if we're still here.
