A Thanksgiving update on Dad

First, my heart is full and I am overwhelmed by all the prayers, vibes and good thoughts. Thank you so much.

Dad just called from the hospital and had a chat with Mom. He's himself, and he's been out of the bed and walking the past 2 days. No word on the test results as of yet, but his walking and being in good spirits is news I had to share with everyone. :)

I have a wonderful family that loves me, and who I love back.

I have amazing people I am proud to call my friends, be they here on DU, the neighborhood, where I work, or halfway around the world.

In 49 years, I have never been without a roof over my head or food to eat.

I am so blessed, so fortunate, and so thankful.

4. Glad to hear this good news. I, too, have some to share.

My husband, also a DU member, had Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) surgery on Monday and came through it well, but the past couple of days have been rough ones for him. He'll be in the hospital a few more days and it getting great medical care, but he has a long, painful recovery ahead of him. But--the best news--he's alive, and as they told him when he discovered the AAA on his own (thank you, Google), usually people don't know they have an AAA until it's too late. As in, it ruptures and kills you. One lesson we learned is, be persistent about getting your symptoms checked out--one of those "listen to what your body's telling you and follow up" things.

I'm off to the hospital again, where my spouse will enjoy Thanksgiving dinner via his IV, but he's finally feeling better and we're thankful there will be many Thanksgivings and other holidays to share in the years to come. Been wed 40 years and I wasn't ready to give him up just yet!
