list of toys NOT made in China
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 08:23 PM by renate
I'm going to try hard not to buy crap from China this year; I'd feel just terrible if a present I give somebody ends up poisoning them. Of course, all kinds of stuff comes from China, but this website with a list of toys that don't is a good start; the links under each toy are all to Amazon, but the author of the blog doesn't seem to be anybody related to Amazon (her other blog reviews coffeehouses in Sacramento). There's also a list of recalls, in the sidebar.

It's also kind of a neat place to get ideas for kids' presents, either for the holidays or for birthdays or just because.

4. Thanks for posting this site! As a new Grandma, I was stressing
over what to get my 10 month old granddaughter for Christmas that wasn't going to poison her. I found the most perfect toy there. Again, thanks!!

Anything that makes holiday shopping easier and less full of toxins is good to know about.

8. Many, many thanks from this grandma. Just sent the link to my daughter, who runs a daycare center
The whole thing's been a nightmare for consumers. May it rebound seven-fold on the Bushites, is all I can say.

I may cross-reference this with the thread from K8-EEE about good progressive Christmas gift ideas. That one took a long time to make it to Greatest, also. Go figure.

Here it is:

Great info here and there. Everybody should have these readily available for the holidays.

10. Kick. Color me China-phobic, for good reason. Even Mr. Potatohead is made in China
It's difficult finding options, so I'm glad to see this.

We're addicted to ME oil & cheap Chinese imports that were made with little concern for quality or the health of the customer.

21. Another "place"...
ME! :)

I make cloth dolls/rag dolls.

For babies/toddlers, I also make fabric books, fleece pillow-and-blanket sets, and soft toys (grab ball, fabric "blocks", etc).

I also make tote bags and cloth grocery bags, cat "houses", and French-maid vacuum cleaner covers...

I am happy to do custom colors!

Don't have a website, but shoot me a PM if you're interested. I can email photos of example work.

Pass it on...really need the business!
