Wilkes trial may move to East Coast

SAN DIEGO – A federal judge Monday hinted the trial of a key player in the Randy “Duke” Cunningham scandal may move from San Diego to the East Coast.

Poway defense contractor Brent Wilkes and Kyle 'Dusty' Foggo – the former third-highest-ranking official at the CIA – are charged with numerous counts of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.

..... the main courthouse is in Alexandria, Va. – would make it easier on the witnesses, the majority of which are on the East Coast.

Further, judges there are experienced in dealing with cases involving classified information that needs to be shared with the defense. Foggo's position in the CIA has made classified information a key issue.

And if Wilkes' pending motion to dismiss the indictment against him is denied, Burns said he will likely be taken into custody, giving the government the option of trying him anywhere in the country. Wilkes was convicted earlier this month of conspiracy, bribery, money laundering and honest services wire fraud for bribing Cunningham ..........

1. More Gonzo appointed USAs in the east than the west?
My first thought was that the reason for the move may not be so much the witnesses, but that the defense is shopping for a Gonzo friendly court.

2. But Alexandria, VA ia a bastion of liberalism. No Freeper judges there! LOL
Just half the Pentagon employees, and judges with high-security clearances.
