The History Channel has me scared to death
Between their coverage of the Aryan Nation, KKK, MS-13, Mexican Mafia, and other assorted gangs, I'm not sure who I should be scared of more. :sarcasm:

Seriously, what is with the television producers displaying inmates as if they were animals in some zoo?

1. I think the insight into gang life is quite telling
My wife has been living with that BS for years now as a PD. It is pretty effed up.

2. I agree - but do we really need nonstop "documentaries"?
When does this sort of stuff cease being informational, and start becoming a sort of "reality horror" programming primarily for entertainment purposes?

5. There are a million channels on cable
Why bitch about the one you don't like. Why not just turn the channel? Some people happen to like those shows and maybe they can't stand a few of your favorites.

13. Spot on. As to when, at least a half-decade ago, maybe more.
It has already transpired. We are, among other things like the ancient Romans watching our less-violent Christians vs. Lions. Jerry Springer COPS was just the start. The real-life miseries of others forms a rather large sub-component now, of our entertainment industry.

I understand what you are saying and I share your horror. It is a chicken and an egg thing. Are we now more facsinated with base misery of others as we grow more enslaved, as a people?

or

Is it whatever psychologically this says about the Imperial Amerikan character (and just maybe, our character during the Last Days of the Old American Republic, too) the REASON we are now being enslaved by our Elite Aristocrats?

Or maybe it's something else.

But to answer your initial question...long ago.

6. Yeah, the History Channel, a good source of information.
I never knew so much about Hitler's Haunted UFO's from the Bible before the History Channel.

15. The History Channel Does What All Channels Do
The History Channel does what all channel do.

It tries to get as many viewers as it can.

To do so, it must appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Up-coming shows on the History Channel:

"Girls Gone Wild -- Did Nostradamus Predict Them?"

"The Truth ABout UFO's -- Britney Spears REAL Biography"

"Paris Hilton -- Granddaughter of Eva Braun and HITLER?"

10. Actually yes I have
Jail - yes, prison - no. Huge difference.

I'm not saying there aren't problems with gangs in prisons. But I just don't see the need for all these prison specials. It's not just History Channel, quite a few other channels have various types of prison documentaries.

I think many people just have a morbid fascination with prisoners, and these specials feed that appetite.

4. Ever Watch "Lock Up" On MSNBC?
MSNBC's "Lock-Up" is also pretty scary.

And it, too, shows people locked up as though they were animals.

19. I think the point is that there are so many, and so what is the fascination
with it. People with brains can discuss that subject. It is an observation, rather than a complaint.

16. Just wait till oil gets so expensive that the gangs have to start
controling it's flow. They deal in drugs now, they will deal in illegal energy later.

18. Wait? They Control It NOW!
Wait until gangs start controlling the flow of oil?

Wait??

They do it now.

Gangs like "Haliburton" and "Exxon/Mobil", and "Shell".

They are just nicely dressed gangs.
